So from many of the remarks on this thread I take it that its just fine that the D sux because Frost is coach. SMH, if he has a defense like that here he'll be lucky to average 7 wins a year. That better be shored up in a hurry and sure HE would agree.
19th in the nation in points per play sucks?

9th in the nation in defensive FEI sucks?

I'm wrong for thinking a top 5 scoring offense (43.8 this year, with UCF at 48.3 and #1) paired with a top 30 scoring defense (21.6 this year, with UCF at 22.5 and #33) would be a breath of fresh air in Lincoln, I apologize.

How many of these yards and points came against UCF's second string D? Quite a few, I'd wager.

Is anyone else concerned with his D? Not saying he is going to bring he D coordinator but that is one area that is a concern to me.

Total D- 73rd
Rush D- 54th
Pass D- 96th
Red Zone D- 87th
Kick off D - 54th
Scoring D - 33rd

Not me. He’s only been a HC for two years. I don’t think he should have a Def. at this point. Depends on who he hires at DC. We don’t have personnel for a 3-4 so he should go for a 4-3 with DISCIPLINE for an easier transition on that side of the ball. His new offense will certainly have a tough time with our lack of speed, size, strength and lacking mobile QBs.

I was watching UCF games on YouTube last night. His current team seems to have good backs and receivers on offense, but the O-line did not impress. On defense, they have a very aggressive pass rush, but the defensive backs stink. Not being mean, but they are terrible.

What can we surmise from this? Almost nothing. But I do think we will see a more aggressive style of defense.
You should watch the O line last year, its been a HUGE improvement. The D backs are all new look at the grade status. They graduated almost every key DB, putting 5 to the NFL.

Shaquill Griffin was drafted in the third round by the Seattle Seahawks while his fellow starters from the 2016 season each signed free agent contracts: T.J. Mutcherson (Houston Texans), Drico Johnson (Arizona Cardinals) and D.J. Killings (New England Patriots).

Perhaps the most underrated aspect to the NFL signings is Jeremy Boykins, who signed a contract with the Tennessee Titans. He came to UCF with his twin brother Jerod as a walk-on in 2015.

UCF's defense had a hard time getting off the field and is a large part of why their time of possession is low. They seemed to give up a lot of long drives, and would give up first downs on 3rd and long. UCF's defense seems to take a while to get going. They give up easy scores in the first quarter, but then lock down and play pretty well in the middle of the game.

I agree some of the things I've seen from UCF's defense is concerning if we do bring Chinander. I've seen Jr. High tackling from them at times, even worse than some of our players against Minnesota or Iowa. They've had quite a few blown coverages where a receiver gets wide open. They seem to have little sense of urgency to get a stop on 3rd down. These seem like coaching issues, but I hope it's just because the talent level is not there.

It's a little more than that....... Quinton Flowers and Riley Ferguson are probably both as good or better than any QB's in the Big Ten. Memphis is the #2 scoring team in NCAA. Flowers is better than Ohio State's QB. Those 2 QB's would have put up 60 points on Nebraska's D

Scotts best friend in this world is Chins. If Scott comes to Neb. Chins will be on the plane with him. That is a lock.

I don't deny that but there are definitely parts of his defense that are concerning. I think Chinander' s a good coach, but Frost may have better options at DC than to bring him along.

Do husker fans really not understand what we are getting with Frost? Same as chip Kelly at Oregon, it's not about stopping people it's about outscoring them. Blackshirts are going to have to thrive off of getting turnovers and being aggressive. We will be giving huge scores still, question is can we score more.

They are linked at the hip. Get used to it. Chins follows Scott.

Folks I think are generally hoping frost lives out the dreams they’ve had on the PS4 the last 20 years worth of dynasty seasons :)

I see no reason why we couldn't have a good defense to go along with a great offense if Frost brings in the right guys. We shouldn't settle for a mediocre Oregon defense just because we have a top offense.

60 points?!! C'mon!! You're giving our defense far too much credit.
