What if we actually win? Go 5-7. We made a bowl at 5-7 2 years ago. Do we get in on 5-7? If we do who coaches it? All assumption is Riley is gone on Friday. What assistant would be named? Any long shot Frost would? Or would Frost now coach UCF in their bowl

Haven't seen it mentioned, but I've thought about it. First off, Frost will be given the opportunity to coach UCF through the bowl game and that will be up to UCF leadership if they want him to do that or just be done. Either way, he wouldn't coach Nebraska on a long shot bowl appearance. The assistant coaches would remain in tact to coach the team.

For recruiting purposes, Riley will not coach the bowl game. We would probably give the reigns to Diaco or Langs if that were to happen. Don't think Frost would step in either.

I am not sure if Neb would allow Frost to coach in bowl game. I think we need to get him on campus ASAP to try to save some recruits before the early signing period.

Would rather see the slate wiped clean at this point. Turn the focus to signing a decent class. Get out there on the road and sell them on the opportunity to get on the field early.

I'd actually like to see us decline a spot if that were to pan out...I think Texas did this in a couple years ago. Not sure of their reasons, but my point is that it's not unprecedented to decline. IMO it's time for us to move on...not sure what extra practices with this staff will accomplish if they haven't accomplished anything up until this point.

I think it would be fun to pay Les Miles to coach it.

It would be something I bet a lot of people from other fan bases would tune in to see, especially those from the LSU crowd.

It would get Nebraska highlighted as an entertaining program and kids like that too.

I would love to see him eat grass again...

I'd get Barry Alvarez to coach it...apparently he's unbeatable as a replacement coach....:)

They are too low on the APR to have a realistic chance. At least a half dozen teams would have to turn down a bowl for Nebraska to be invited.

There are two other potential 5 win teams with a higher APR than us in our conference alone. Extremely doubtful we can go unless some others decline

I think there are 5 or 6 teams total that have 5 wins and an APR higher than us. It is pretty much impossible for us to make a bowl game.

1. No way Nebraska makes a bowl this season.

2. Frost will not coach it even if we were in line for a bowl.

3. Les Miles needs to stop being talked about.

Man...How Riley would it be for Riley to make two bowl games with 5-7 records? That would be the most Riley thing ever.

If we made a bowl it would probably be the Quick Lane Bowl or the Pinstripe Bowl, neither of which are going to reel in a very good amount of Husker fans. I would be shocked, since the bowls allot teams by their fan revenue numbers, and our numbers are not too high this year... They'll take 5-7 Minnesota over us.

Are they anticipating running out of 6 or better teams to fill the slots in 2017-18 bowls?

What an embarassing prospect. I would hope we would have the pride to turn it down, but in the participation trophy generation and 40th place ribbons, about what i expect.

Frost isn't coaching Nebraska in a bowl game, even if we were to make it to one. No AD in his right mind would sign off on such a ridiculous idea.

The difference is two years ago we had a new coaching staff. The fanbase had hope and was willing to travel. This year we have progressively gotten worse and fanbase apathy is at historic levels. No sensible bowl committee would touch us with a 10-foot pole.

Besides, that 2015 Nebraska team would've pulverized this 2017 Nebraska team.

Good gwad no. Frost might see just how bad we are in person and really decide to stay put.
Pretty sure anyone just needs to look at the Minn. score and can make a good calculation on just how bad we are.

Yep. They were so full of toxins nobody would have wanted to touch them.

Come to think of it, that might suit our OL perfectly.
I remember that year thinking, "Damn, our OL sucks." (Save the UCLA game, they played well) Now, I would give my left nut to have that OL instead of the current one.

Need to let staff coach bowl and get exemption for new coach so he can go on road and recruit during bowl season like they gave to Urban Myers when he took the o-state job. Huge advantage being only coach recruiting during dead period. He flipped multiple committed players .

Wasn't saying Neb in this. I was responding to someone who asked if Frost would coach in UCF bowl game. I said no way neb would let him coach in UCF bowl, if Frost was Neb coach. They would want him on campus asap
