I really dont care abt the money. It's not mine and never will be. Nu has more than more than enough. If they want to manage it better in the future more power to them. And im not giving the univ or athletic dept a damn dime. Tuition goes up every year. Professors write the $100+ text books and require you to buy them. Tickets are crazy and for decent season tickets you have to donate $1000s, the coaches either say **** the fans or have losing, blowout, seasons.
If you went to UNL, go to games, own any Husker gear, or even watch any games. - you should care. That’s some of your money they’re farting into the wind.

I think Mike Riley shouldfeel bad taking a potential 2-year salary after what he was responsible for at Nebraska. And the guy who extendes the contract...was fired. Likely due to incompetence.
I can appreciate your feelings, but rather Mr. Riley feels bad or not, he will get paid.

His former AD SE, was also not the only person that approved Mr. Riley's contracts. There were people above him that agreed to each of them as well. If they hadn't, SE would not have offered.

When there is this much money involved, there is always multiple layers of administration to explain, and justify the proposal to, and to get an approval from, before an offer is made.

It wasn't just SE by himself.

Please take this crackerjack legal theory to any 10 attorneys of your choosing (preferably men/women not named "Bruiser" or "The Strongarm") and see if any of them think the University can void Riley's contract extension due to Eichorst's incompetence. Be sure to report back here on how many of them think this is possible.

Seems like the best option for Riley. Unless he wants to look like a complete dbag, I would hope he wouldn’t be litigious.

In all honesty, I would think Eichorst’s extension of MR’s contract could be argued to be void. Seeing as Eichorst seems to have had a screw loose. But I suppose he was representing the University Athletic Department at the time. There must be some sort of legal precedent for one drafting a contract whilst in a state of mental incapacitation.

You post this legal theory and claim somebody else has a screw loose. Uh huh. Got it.

I am not perfect and have had a number of failures in life, most small, a few significant. I have been fortunate that when I failed, no one took "glee" in it. Our program is bad, Nebraska football is irrelevant, our fan base is miserable and apathetic, and the team is struggling. Reveling in this misery is so far off my radar I can't connect with your post in any way.
I revel in the Riley lovers’ misery! I love it!

Riley is a nice guy, but I think he still has pride. If he isn’t fired in the next couple of days then I’ll assume it’s possible, but as of right now I doubt it.

Yeah, not a law school graduate. But I have seen plenty of other bs and frivolous garbage over the years. Just holding out hope that Riley doesn’t walk away with any more money than he deserves. In my opinion, this year’s salary alone should suffice.

Honestly, there should be some sort of penance or performance standard. And I’m not talking about bonuses. His base pay is too high, in my opinion.

The hurt is deep though. I mean really deep.

Oh the toxins...
I don't know who did or didn't believe in the toxin garbage but I do remember such classic posts as...

"Oh, trust me...you have no idea how toxic it really is, trust me"

That one always cracked me up...of course...when NU was 7-0 last year those toxins were gone...until they weren't.

Riley will straight up make Nebraska fire him. He will take every penny he is entitled to. He won't give back one cent. Why would he?
He owes it to his assistants to make Nebraska fire him so they get there pay day.

I don't think Mike earned it. I don't care about entitled or not, he needs to ask himself if he earned it. I don't respect Mike at all. I don't get respecting someone just because they are nice. The truth is, being 'nice' is more about social manipulation that anything else. Mike stands there like a politician and plays this nice person persona and lots of people fall for it. I think he's a lying piece of garbage for what he's done to the program and how he's mismanaged so much and lied to the fan base. Mike Riley is a disgrace.
Being nice is probably more devalued now in today's society than at any point in the recent past, yet when a guy is in a position to make millions of dollars a year, being nice is all that's expected of him? It doesn't make any sense.
