Florida: On the Buddy Martin Radio Show, Steve Spurrier noted that he believes the Gators will have “an excellent coach here in 3-4 weeks,” and then added; “The coach is with his team now. The coach we’re going to hire is probably, I would almost 100 percent say is coaching his team today, this weekend, and through the end of the season, and maybe through the bowl game.”

Is he their TO? Does he have any capacity in the athletic dept there?

Spurrier is just another guy with an opinion at this point. If they thought that much of him he'd be the interim HC.

No, according to the reports I've read he exerts influence at Florida. He draws up and sends plays to the head coach. And he makes his opinions known to the AD.

Spurrier is working as a consultant in the Florida athletic department. And yes he did walk into coaches' meetings this year and give them plays he wanted them to run.

Pretty sure that I read on this site that Forida will shock the world and hire a .500 coach that Florida fans will have to Google!

We have nothing to fear!

That doesn't sound good. Assuming the reports are true and it's down to Frost, Kelly, and Mullen. We had better hope ol' Steve is talking about Dan.

In 3 to 4 weeks??!!! but what about the early signing period? Their AD must be an idiot if he doesn't have a new coach named by Thanksgiving. (I kid)

Spurrier can't say the new coach isn't currently coaching. That kind of narrows the direction.

He can say whatever he wants but his name won't be the one on the signature line for the University of Florida so I'm not sure how much what he says matters. He would be a fool to not want Chip there if they can get him. He fits there and would win there.

Spurrier wants Frost. Stricklin (the AD) wants Chip.

And they also have the old AD (Foley) still hanging around in some administrative role, and the rumor is that he wants Charlie Strong.

I'm not sure Frost will want to work for an administration like that, with so many people hovering around that supposedly don't get along that well. Moos seems like a much better boss to me.

I could be wrong, but I don't think he gets as much patience and time at Florida as he will here being a favorite son and people (hopefully) understanding just how big a rebuild this is.

Plus, it seems to me culturally he'd be a much better fit here. He reminds me a lot of TO when he talks. Very low key, throws in a little joke once in a while that is delivered fairly awkwardly, and is all about doing the hard work that is needed for success.

Official In-Charge of Overseeing the Person who Oversees and Manages the Athletic Director. He is and will be totally Loved by their New Head Football Coach. I wish that Coach Spurrier would speak out more often...will make it easier for Nebraska to get Scott Frost.

I would be completely shocked if Frost ended up at Florida somehow at this point.
Do you have any idea of when some sort of anouncement may come? If Frost probably after his AAC champ game? For recruiting purposes would be nice to know sooner than later.

No, I sure don't. Anyone that says they know for sure is most likely full of sh*t. I am fairly confident that there may be that offer for the job out there from NU....and that he did already decline discussing the open position with Florida.

With what I have heard, I am still pretty confident that he ends up here, but unfortunately, things can change. The numbers I have heard are just that...numbers I have heard. Some of what I have heard I am pretty confident in being true. Other things I have heard I am not sure exactly how true it is....some of which I am not even confident enough to post on here. I will say this, he is usually pretty spot on, but was way off in the last coaching search.

As I just stated, the reliable connections I have are not in the AD's office...and even if I did, I doubt he would want me to say anything publicly. I do know some people that know some people (everybody claims that bs, right? Lol) and they have told me things that make me still pretty confident that we have a very good shot at Frost.

I will say this, if what I have heard is true, then yes....we will want our new HC in here as soon as possible. So, I am conflicted...that would mean that we would be rooting against that current HC in their last game of the year.

I am no different than everybody else here....just waiting for an answer. My guess would be no news from the Frost camp will be good news if you want him as your HC.

The longer things go with no new names popping up and Frost remaining silent will most likely be a very good sign.

Sorry so long, but I wanted to put this out there that I have some connections, but I am an insider by no means. The inside stuff I won't spill all over the board, anyway. Not fair to him, players, current coaches, AD....or potential coaches that may be coming in.

There really is only one person on here I have told things that I know are factual. If I "share" something I KNOW is true or bs, it is usually a one sentence response agreeing or disagreeing...lol.

Take care, 2612.

Agree, My personal opinion on this is this:
If frost was planning on staying at UCF he would have already came out and said he is staying put and not interested in an other offers. Since he has not done that, it leads me to believe he is indeed interested in possibly moving on.
If it is common for schools, such as Neb to contact the schools whos coach they are interested, then why has no other school done this as well with Frost. Only Nebraska. This leads me to believe either these other school are not doing this or they have no reason to, because they know they have no chance to get Frost.

You stated, "So, I am conflicted...that would mean that we would be rooting against that current HC in their last game of the year." Why would we have to be rooting against our current HC? If he wins does he stay?

Funny story about Spurrier and Ricky N when he was at Colorado. Not sure exactly how this went, but I guess Rick was at a Florida practice before the bowl game. Spurrier was all confident and talking a bunch of s*it about running his five wide, no back sets and telling Rick how NU wouldn't be able to cover their speed.

Rick asked him, "Well, what if they blitz here?" Spurrier laughed and said he would just get fried....because of the Florida speed advantage over NU.

I can't remember the EXACT wording of the conversation, but that is king of how it went. Lol.

I guess Rick said something to the effect of okay....good luck. Laughing

No, that's not what I meant about rooting against UCF at all. It has more to do with Frost not having to coach in a conference title game, so he could get here earlier to try to possibly hold on to some of those in the early signing period....IF he ends up at NU.

Nebraska was bigger, stronger and faster in that game. They were more aggressive and executed at a superior level. There is a reason Florida got their asses handed to them, it's because Nebraska was better than them in every area of the game aside from throwing the football around.

Oh, and they were better than them on grass too..

He has little influence...he is a glorified fund raiser...furthermore, I don't think he wants any influence...he wants to play golf and do fund raisers...

The drawing up plays part is true...but if you saw UF's offense, you would understand why...

Not really a consultant...fund raiser...see above regarding plays.

Spurrier wants Frost. Stricklin (the AD) wants Chip.

Not true...they fell behind in the SEC--which is over the top...but their faclities are again very good with an amazing stand alone football complex on the way.

Either that or 62 - 24. :D

What does that have to do with Frost? He was a redshirting scout team QB at the time.

I would be completely shocked if Frost ended up at Florida somehow at this point.

Almost no chance Frost is at Florida. Kelly is basically a done deal--expect an announcement this week. Only way Frost would be in play is if UF missed on Kelly--they would make another run at Frost.
