The point is that Moos is and has been working this behind-the-scenes. Contrary to some opinions on here about how this happens.

It wont help recruiting to not have a head coach in place to talk to the recruits, all that would do is confirm EVERY recruits suspicion that Riley wont be here next year, how does it help at all?
Agree I think at this point everyone knows Riley is not going to be here next year. Until the new coach is announced the recruits are going to be in limbo with or without Riley here. Hopefully Riley and the coaches are in these recruits ears saying give the new coach a chance.

You people are a bunch of dolts!

If Riley is fired now let’s just say Parella is put in charge. He immediately tells the staff "no contact whatsover with any recruit unless the new assistant I'm naming in charge of recruiting today, John Doe, is present, or approves it or is involved. Texting, phone, mail, nothing. If you violate that, you will be terminated for cause and you will lose your buyout.

When Riley is fired with 2 weeks until signing day, then you have no real staff, right? Let's say Frost is announced the next week. You now have 10 days, or 7 days to convince the recruits, who are busy lining up visits now in December because they know Riley isn't coming back, to stick with NU.

You say that like willfully ceasing contact with any/all recruits wouldn't be grounds for a "with cause" termination of any remaining coach. That would be a slam-dunk to prove. Who do you think provides their cell phone, email account, twitter feed, car, plane tickets...

People always talk like, "Oh if so and so gets fired we'll burn this MFer down!" Then you fire so and so and you watch all the rest of them think about whether they wanna get paid next Friday or not and everyone shuts up and gets back to work.

I thought it was interesting in the article that his "Lets go" moment was when his 3-3 WSU team was getting its butt whipped by Oregon State. He understood when a team like Oregon State is kicking your butt, you must really suck. We have had that same moment several times this year. Our guy has turned this team into Oregon State. Probably even worse than them now.

This confuses me...are you saying this is what SHOULD be done?

Hey Swatted, i can copy and paste too! In every single thread SMH

incoherent babble doesnt make for a strong argument, and you have the nerve to call us dolts? Again you fail to address the fact of the matter, RECRUITS WANT TO PLAY FOR A COACH, how will anybody convince a recruit to sign to a coach-less program? Ha and you think we are the dolts. Come on Swatted you can do better than that

Talking? Yes.
Believing? Within 2 years and 3 games, I think it's possible that the new HC can show us he's well on the way to success, but not grounds for firing if we're still finding our footing. The team needs to be playing hard-nosed, competitive football...and have an IDENTITY.

No, the new coach needs to win, and win the Nebraska way. In 2 seasons and 3 games.

Winners win, losers lose.

Seriously? Anyone surprised about this? You don't ask and negotiate in public. Did anyone ever consider some of these coaches looking to move up contact Nebraska and we never know about them until years later? We will never really know who had interest in the program in the past unless someone spills their guts some years later.

I didn't hear one peep that Moos was even in the running for the AD job. Apparently no one knew what was going on so there is a lot that no one, read that NO ONE knows for sure what is going on. They aren't paying big bucks for an AD, especially at this point in time, to say stupid things and act like an idiot and mostly not be prepared.

I believe he is going to get the best coach available for the money he has been authorized to spend.
