Who said anyone was bothered? It is entertaining ... he is 1000% correct. If weren’t for those pesky games we would undefeated
After I saw "good grief" "clown show" "true professional" that's just what I assumed.

I would have liked to have heard the audio of that response. Was Riley mocking his own embarrassing tenure? Wonder if he was smiling while he said it.

Coach Cav is trying to save his job and maybe set some records:

Offensive line coach Mike Cavanaugh said there's a chance senior David Knevel could start at right guard over redshirt freshman Matt Farniok this week. Knevel has only played tackle in his career at Nebraska.

So would that be the tallest player to ever play guard in college football? Eek

Maybe they should move him to center and see how that goes...

Knevel is a taller skinnier Dan Vili Waldrop, except he's not as tough. He makes Adam Julch look like Orlando Pace.

Absolutely the dumbest coach I've ever seen. Why would you put Boe Wilson in, I'm mean he actually puts people in the dirt. Could you imagine being a QB and having a 6'9 guard stand in front of you? Might as well hand the other team the ball.

Is it intentional?
That’s part of the problem - it’s not intentional, it is incompetence.

Mike Riley is not a victim. He made the choice to put his face on a national program when he has never been able to remotely achieve a standard that Nebraska expected in an entire lifetime of coaching. Or do you think he didn’t understand the expectations at Nebraska? If not - HIS fault.

We know now he took this gig to get out of an uncomfortable situation he painted himself into in Corvallis. He wanted to give it “one more shot”, but instead of researching and assembling a new team of assistants for this last shot, he trods over his tired old group that was on the verge of getting their asses fired. Then when it is obviously not working at Nebraska despite unlimited resources at his disposal, he starts canning all his buddies to save his ***. That is HIS fault.

Now there are no more fingers to point - Mike is a 500 coach, same he has always been. But instead of doing what Andersen did at Corvallis and walking away, Mike will take his huge retirement boost and fade off into life with a bunch of Nebraska money. Did he earn it? Technically by contract - the same way all failed CEO’s take their golden parachutes. Is it ethical payment for a job well done? Not in my opinion.

So paint Mike as the white knight you want to - but I see a guy who was either dumb like a fox or just dumb. Not sure which it is, but neither was good for Nebraska.

Wow extremely harsh......and yet so accurate. If the guy wasn't so nice this is exactly what every one would see in this hire. Unfortunately he has made a career out of being the nice coach and benefiting from it at almost all levels. Mike Riley has 172 losses as a head coach in his career. That is unheard of.

I don't blame him at all for taking all the money he can, in fact I think it would be crazy of him not to take it all...

But when you see that he has 172 losses...well that is amazing. I have always thought that it wasn't so much him doing more at OSU...it was OSU keeping him employed.

That's my point. It wasn't intentional and Riley isn't being disrespectful to anyone. Be upset, just don't be disrespectful or a dick.

It is amazing what a person can get away with by being a “nice guy”.

Relax. Nobody is being a dick about Riley as a person. They are discussing and commenting on him as the coach of a train wreck.

Sterup is 6'8", played guard and his height wasn't an issue.

The only time he played Guard was under Cav in 2015 for 5 games and that was also with a mobile QB who didn't need to sit in the pocket as much. Also Sterup is way more talented then Knevel. Zach is active in the NFL and plays Tackle. I highly doubt Knevel even gets a sniff at the NFL.

The fact that Cav started Gates over Sterup @ Tackle is also a sign that Cav has no clue what the hell he is doing.

My response wasn't in defense of Cav, Knevel or Sterup.

He's 6'8" & played guard at Nebraska. FACTS.

Holy **** dude.

It was an unfortunate choice of words and obviously a misstep; however, I haven't seen a coach handle the Nebraska media as well as Riley has in a long time. He's been patient with reporters asking him the same dumb questions over and over and he typically gives a pretty thought out answer. I am willing to give him a pass on this one.

Relax. I was just adding to your post. Not stating you support the move or anything. All is good man.
Give him a break - he hung onto Riley as a coach until his 172nd loss until he conceded he was not a good coach. At least I think he’s conceded - maybe he still thinks he’s a great coach, just not for Nebraska. Who knows?
