Here is the list of coaching records by all FBS head coaches who took over when Riley came to NU:
Jim McElwain 22-12 Florida

Jim Harbaugh 27-8 Michigan

Paul Chryst 30-6 Wisconsin

Pat Narduzzi 20-15 Pitt

David Beaty 3-30 KU

Gary Andersen 7-23 OSU

Chad Morris 13-20 SMU

Neal Brown 21-13 Troy

Lance Leipod 10-23 Buffalo

Tony Sanchez 11-22 UNLV

Phillip Montgomery 20-17 Tulsa

Mike Bobo 20-16 CSU

Tom Herman 22-4 Houston

Mike Riley 19-18 NU

Of the 14 head coaching changes that year, Riley ranks 8th/14. However, it looks like Morris at SMU is trending up when he was left with a dumpster fire when he was hired.

IMO Sanchez has UNLV going in the right direction. The season opener really hurt their bowl chances but they might get there
