Wow. That's a truly heartfelt and thoughtful statement from Bookie. He's earned even more respect by doing this.
As a Husker fan, sure it hurts. But you can't blame him for wanting to look around, knowing our uncertain times.
Who knows...maybe we can lure him back when this all shakes out.

GBR and best wishes Bookie!!!

Meh, knew it was coming. Now that it’s over we can move on. Best of luck to him and his future. No sense in keeping Riley around to salvage this recruiting class like some wanted. It’s time to rip that bandaid off and move on with that now too.

Huge kick in the nuts, we desperately need CB’s and he’s related to our DB coach.

Unfortunately it will also make it easier for the other high profile recruits in the class to decommit now that Bookie broke the ice. The ship is sinking and the others will see it is time to jump off.

This is just the tip of the iceberg/glacier. :(

It’s times like these when I wish recruits didn’t do those commitment videos. Especially when you have recruits like Bookie and Joshua Moore who include a family member that are no longer with them. It makes those videos pointless now. Same with Tyjon last year. I see JM decommiting too.

Should have fired Riley when they fired Eichorst. He was a dead man walking at that time.

As I said before, Moore will be next. Whoever takes over will be starting from scratch in recruiting with only the in-state kids still committed, if they still are.

Bookie opening it up will put a freeze on future “star” commitments. Any commitments from now until the next coach is hired will only be kids that were going to Nebraska regardless.

Good. All the ex-players who trash these recruits can be happy. Makes more room for walk-ons #heart!

Believe he’s Sooner bound. He’s the talent that elevates a defense, similar to what Suh and David did recently. Wish he would have stuck.

Pros: You could argue Bookie has peaked early and is probably generously listed at his height. Perhaps more easily replaced than expected.

Cons: Bookie is probably the most high-profile recruit of this year and any past year that I can remember. A lot of young kids seem to be enamored by him. He would have been a great ambassador for the program. Tough loss in that regard because he really grabs a lot of eyeballs and attention from all over the country. That's something Nebraska really needs right now.

Not sure that's entirely true. Never wanted to say it while he was committed, but he is definitely a question mark at the next level. His numbers at IMG are insane because his DL is absolutely ridiculous and dominating. He can anticipate just about every throw because of the pressure.

Best of luck to him, can't blame him since it looks pretty obvious that the coaching staff won't be around next season.

This says Riley is gone more than anything else. I am sure there were discussions with The AD by his handlers. If NW wins Moos will announce Riley will finish the year but not be retained, that is my call!

Do you really believe this?

He dominated one on one match ups before he got to IMG. He kills it in one on ones in camps and 7 on 7 where there is no DLine putting pressure on the QB. But whatever. Might have just wrote “we didn’t want him anyway”.
