How so?If we lose Frost, but hire Campbell I would be fine. The problem is I’m not sold Moos will get either guy. The guy’s track record for hiring coaches leaves a lot to be desired.
Go research his hires at Wazzu. Leach is the only good one out of any of them in a main sport. Most did worse than the prior coach. How so?
The only way Riley is retained is if he wins out, or maybe wins 3 and plays PSU close. A blowout loss in Happy Valley, or loss at home to NW or Iowa, or losing to a bad Minnesota team - any of those things should seal his fate.

It really only matters what a handful of people want. His fate is sealed, too late. The people all want Frost now.
You are assuming NU is serious about bringing him home. Frost can’t wait and play the what if game if Florida is ready to move.
Ernie Kent has been a complete flop at Wazzu.First, I am only concerned bout football right now and he did a great job with the football program at both Oregon and WSU. Secondly, if we must talk about other sports right now, Ernie Kent went to the elite 8 at Oregon, which was a pretty good hire.
I wasn’t aware Moos ever hired a coach at Oregon. What did he do with the Oregon football program besides get ran off by Phil Knight who has an open check book.First, I am only concerned bout football right now and he did a great job with the football program at both Oregon and WSU. I agree and disagree. I think he is working behind the scenes, much like he did when he secured Leach before firing Wolfe at WSU. But I agree the December signing period will change things and we may behind the 8-ball on that.Moos will not be proactive.
That’s where it goes back to the point that Riley might not be fired after the season. If his fate has been decided, fire him and start moving on your target. We will likely get sloppy seconds.Yep, being proactive means something with a December signing day. That last Saturday of the year Florida will already have had informal conversations with Frosts agent, will have contracts prepped, asst coach salary pools determined, etc.
@4.6.3 - You’re turning “step away from the ledge” into an excuse for Moos to twiddle his thumbs and wait to start moving until the Saturday after thanksgiving. UF will be watching the ink dry and we’ll be just starting to ping his agent for the first time.

You have no way of knowing if he is working behind the scenes or not. And his track record would indicate he is, if he plans to make a change. He’s not, pretty simple to see given he’s said he refuses to make decisions on coaches until after the season.
UF knows the December signing day is key, which is why they made a move on a coach mid-year.
Meanwhile we’ll just be approaching Frosts agent after UF will have gotten the behind the scenes work sorted out weeks ago.

I hope your wrong. And getting to 6-6 is a tall task.I don’t think it’s a given Riley gets fired this year. I could see Moos keeping him if we go 6-6.
Change a year to maybe a decade or never and we agree.Moos' contract includes a $100K bonus for a B10 championship and a $150K bonus for a CFP postition. Keeping Riley pushes the possibility of getting one of those bonuses out at least another year. He would be nuts to keep Riley another year no matter how NU finished.
Count me in and hoping I’m wrong too. Riley should have been fired already.I hope your wrong. And getting to 6-6 is a tall task.

That makes me feel sooooo much better about the Moos hire.Moos doesn't like when fans tell him what to do. He kept a "no bowl-ticket" file at WSU for fans who sent him angry emails about Leach.
You're such a knowledgeable fan....not.I wasn’t aware Moos ever hired a coach at Oregon. What did he do with the Oregon football program besides get ran off by Phil Knight who has an open check book.
What did Moos do at Oregon I should be in awe of?You're such a knowledgeable fan....not.![]()
Go back and read the 50 news stories on his tenure there or maybe just check out his bio on Huskers.com. It should be up there by now I imagine. He's the one that started the rise of Oregon football with his fundraising, facility upgrades and hire of Belotti. Nike money came late to the game but it came in part due to Moos. Chip Kelly benefited greatly from the things Moos accomplished prior to Chip being hired. What did Moos do at Oregon I should be in awe of?
Moos never hired a football coach there and Phil Knight fired him. It’s pretty simple. Take care of Phil Knight. He is the money train, and Moos couldn’t do that. We did have good cause. Bo did not win enough games. Why would it be a PR hit if we could show that we HAD TO fire him due to good cause?

huskers.com is going to write about him? Bad stuff. I’m also not saying Moos is a bad hire yet but let’s not pretend we killed it with this hire. His football coaching hire will define his time here.
Belotti credited Moos. I may have been wrong about him hiring Belotti. Knight didn't fire Moos. Knight got Moos fired for bucking him on something. Maybe Moos was right given some of the illegal activities that have come to light with the shoe companies. Did Knight want Moos to pay off players? We don't know what their conflict was. John Blake was mentioned in some similar allegations regarding recruiting football players involving agents. Chip got caught in some banned activities at Oregon involving recruiting and exchange of cash. I gotta hit the rack. Too much Jameson tonight.Moos never hired a football coach there and Phil Knight fired him. It’s pretty simple. Take care of Phil Knight. He is the money train, and Moos couldn’t do that. Track coach didn't want his recruits taking money from Nike I guess. Oregon didn't get all those recruits just because they have snappy uniforms. I'm happy to hear that Moos has principles and won't be run over by the money.Actually we do know what the conflict was about. Moos tried to get the Washington AD job, and then later Phil Knight wanted Moos to fire the track coach, and threatened to stop donating money if he didn't.
