5-0 for me. We SHOULD be expected to win 4 out of the 5 games left. Only thing that would change my mind is beating those teams like we should be and beating Penn St. With that said, I don't expect that we'll even go 4-1 over our next 5.

I have personally been struggling with this, if i were in Moos' position what would i expect/do. I want to fire him and keep him (for next season) for differing reasons. 4-1 would have me feeling "okay" about keeping him 1 more year and as long as that 1 we are competitive, we cant be getting blown out of the water like Ohio St and 2nd half of Wisconsin. NIU shouldnt have happened, hell the argument could be made that Oregon loss should not have happened, we pretty much gave them that one too. Next year is going to be a rough stretch of games not sure you want to put that as year 1 of a new coach whoever it ends up being if it is next year. Keeping MR 1 more year letting him sink or swim (should he finish strong) Might be best for all parties, maybe Frost wants 1 more year not having to move a newborn and deal with excess stress of dealing with transitioning and a newborn etc. As a Husker fan i want us to go 5-0 no way you will catch me rooting against my beloved Huskers just to spark a coaching change.

Depends on what Scott says behind the scenes. If he is a no-go it is probably less. If he says he would be very interested if a change was made, the number is 5-0.

I agree that a lot will have to do with what goes on behind the scenes. I think Moos will have his ducks in a row (not necessarily Frost) before he makes a move.

What does it take for Mike Riley to keep his job going forward from here?
For me, winning all except Penn State, but playing them super tough would be good. Plus more top commits before December. That tells me one more year would be deserving.

That said there's no reason based on past history to think that will happen. I've always been a coach supporter, but Riley hasn't proven himself. The past three coaching staffs have just sickened me with the overly complicated offenses, lack of physicality on both sides of the line, and blow out losses that show players, well, quitting. These guys are wearing Husker uniforms, but it's not Husker football.

I agree on all counts.

What's up with this "well if he goes 4-1 we gotta keep him..." crap.

If he does it, he'll be 7-5 overall, including losing to NIU at home and getting blown out by OSU and stomped on by Wisconsin. But no yeah let's keep him because um he won 7 games and was like 4-1 in this apparently completely different season of football that's starting Saturday. Smh, Mike Riley is garbage.

Get rid of him.

Everyone is fighting for their job. Should Notre Dame and Michigan State of Fired their coaches last year? I bet they are glad they didn’t
One of those coaches ha taken his team to the NCG...the other took his team to the CFP and has won multiple conference titles.....Mr. Mike has never accomplished anything of significance in his entire CFB career.

I don't care about either of those teams, not one bit. Nebraska I do care about and the guys in charge now are not going to take the program anywhere. I hate saying this because I try to be supportive of it all but I can sadly say that I preferred the Pelini era. We're just a horrible team all around, a lot of regression. We are now and Oregon State type team, is that really worth keeping?
