Back in the Osborne years osborne and his coaching staff recruited players that had baggage criminal records and even bob devany with Johnny Rogers the 90s teams had a lot of thugs on the team that were nasty and were not soft this nebraska team is soft I'd take Lawrence Phillips and the Peter brothers again in a heartbeat

An increase in mean streak is needed - which I am going to assume is what you are getting at. Adding behavior problems to the mix may not work out well for a new coach as it did for T.O. given his long tenure and experience dealing with difficult players.

Players with talent being coached by this staff is the entire problem period.

You have to get some dudes. It is up to the staff to reel them in, mold them and make them by in. I hate hearing that we passed on guys with big time talent like Matt Corral because of “character issues”.

I thought we did recruit some thugs... only to have them get kicked off the team for frivolous acts like hitting a teammate over the head with a bottle...

I guess none of the teams shortcomings can be blamed on "want-to" in your opinion?

I hear what your saying but how many successful coaching staffs allow that on the field week after week. Imo yes the coaches are to blame for this as well.

I believe in LSU's last national championship every starter had been discipline at one time including the punter.

Louisville, the team that beat Florida in the bowl and put Louisville on the map was made up of guys kicked off other teams.

Comes down to are you putting together a football team or a church choir.

Jeezus. It’s amazing when things aren’t going well, how many well-intentioned people offer advice.

We need more “Nebraska guys” on the trenches. No, we need more walk-ons to push the talented guys. No. We need more “thugs”.

I remember Nebraska was pretty good when we had some “thugs” on their team.

This is really tiring.

What Nebraska needs is a group of talented players led by an intelligent coach who inspires those players.

Thugs also hate punctuation.
