OT: Frost's offense, QB

For anyone who has watched in detail, I've only seen highlights, his qb is making alot of zone read option plays. His qb does a good job selling, although hands off or even pitches off the majority. Not sure a pure pro style qb would be confident doing this, if Frost for some reason, was in that situation.

This is what makes me a little hesitant about Frost. He has an all-conference QB running his offense. How will it look with someone not nearly as talented?

If you are a highly regarded dual threat QB would you flip to be his QB?

Per rivals, Milton was the #10 recruit out of Hawaii in 2016 and a 5.5 3*. If Frosty ends up in Lincoln, I think his preferred QB will be a bit different than what we have on our roster. Gebbia probably comes close to fitting the bill.

The back-up has looked good in mop up duty. True freshman, maybe he’d transfer with Frost, take a red-shirt and be ready to start as a RS sophomore.

Anyone know anything about UCF’s true freshman back-up?

That's why Frost should not be considered a viable candidate for the job at NU when it comes open. The QB for UCF is a soph that was probably recruited by GO'L if he is any good, anyway. Frost should get no credit for how well the kid has run his offense.

Not to mention the fact that we only have pro-style QB's on our roster and Frost better come in and win 9-10 games right away.

NU is probably being totally unfair to Riley because people are expecting him to not get blown out by really good teams, be better than 5-8 in his last 13, be 0-5 against Iowa and Wisconsin, not lose to under .500 directional schools, and have the program headed in the right direction after 2.5 years on the job.

So even if Frost WOULD get hired at NU, we should have no patience....even if the team shows it was improving in the first 3 years he might be here.

Just to help you guys out ..... Frost recruited McKenzie Miltion to UCF not the previous coach. Milton had camped at Oregon when Frost was there and came to UCF after Frost got hired.

The backups are two true freshmen. That may be the reason there isn't a stud in the recruiting class (yet). Noah Vedral from Nebraska and Darriel Mack from Virginia. Both are 3 star dual threat QB's and both were ranked in the top 40 dual threat QB's in the country last year.

In summary ... they have a true sophomore that is getting some buzz for Heisman right now and two true freshman backups that fit perfectly in the offense.

Not an anti-Frosty, but in the American, if you have a good team, given the year, you can look like a great team.

I think people are overstating the whole "pro style QB" aspect of our guys after Lee. Sure, Lee is a statue, but IIRC both O'Brien and Gebbia have some mobility. I went back and watched highlights for both, and while they are no Taylor Martinez or Tommy Armstrong when it comes to running, both seem to have enough mobility to keep a defense honest and be a threat to run on occasion.

You don't need to have a glorified running back at QB to run Frost's system.

And how did Riley's team look against similar type teams? You know, ASU and NIU?
Not great. I am not with the crowd that has the tar, feathers, pitchforks and torches out for Riley, but also won't be upset if MR is given his release. I also think Frost would be a more than acceptable choice. He has clearly gotten his systems in place and his kids are playing good football. He has played both sides of the ball and has a good holistic understanding of the game of football.
Folks can mock the whole tradition coalition thing and obviously some are ideological about it. But if the NU fan base is by nature insular, then it is by nature insular. Frost will likely be a Power 5 coach at some point. Why not in Lincoln?

UCF beat Memphis 40-13 and Maryland 38-10 (on the road). I would be interested in what the Vegas line would be if you guys played Memphis and Maryland right now.

Really isn't relevant. UCF is having a great year by their standards, we are bad by our standards. But things can change quick, it's not like UCF is a powerhouse; you were 0-12 two years ago and had a losing record last year (6-7). While we were 7-0 and ranked in the top 10 this time last year and now are staring down the barrel of a coaching change. Things have changed quick for both programs and I suspect they could change back soon.

You must be confused. I’m not sure what you have seen on this board to assume Husker fans think we have a good team this year.

My post was in response to the guy that said having a good year in the American Conference isn't worth anything. I pointed out some teams UCF has beaten and for comparison asked how they would do against Nebraska.

I never would claim that you have a good team this year.

You still must be confused. I read your post. Using Nebraska as a barometer this year doesn’t really mean anything. What Nebraska’s betting line against Memphis/Maryland doesn’t mean anything. UCF is a a good team. You play a crap schedule. It’s okay to admit both.

I looked at current UCF recruiting and being in a hot bed of talent, the results sure don't show him recruiting at a high level. Maybe they are in on a lot of highly ranked recruits.

#1 class in the G5 last year in his first full year. Ahead of countless P5 teams. Are you having a tough time understanding that? Who cares about a recruiting year in October? Surely you understand that.
