It would be cool if everyone could refrain from jumping in here and acting like an a$$. By that I mean, explaining why you were right about Riley, talking about how bad he sucks, talking about how bad the team sucks, and talking crap about individual players.

1) Riley is a class act. 2) Those young men want to win worse than we do. 3) Riley has done A LOT of good things here at the University.....most notably, helping to get rid of the stench that Mark left behind when he tried to use a scorched earth policy on his way out the door. Even if a move is made at the end of the season, I am glad that Mike Riley has been our coach.

Obviously, I think it is inevitable that Coach Riley will probably be gone at the end of the season. There certainly is no need to continue to b*tch about him throughout the remainder of the season. Don't be that miserable of a person. Or at least if you are, don't post it here.

GBR. Let's take it to Illinois next Friday.

I agree, OP, support the players, respect the coaches.

My posts are laser focused at the dolt-posters here on the board that insulted other posters for being right about riley's staff being a bad hire. Those posters were not only wrong about everything, they insulted detractors personally without any repercussion from their friends, the mods. Hell is yet to be paid to the koolaid drinking sunshine pumpers.

Fair points...you can't blame Riley for taking the job. He was afraid he was about to be fired from Oregon State - so being offered the Nebraska job out of nowhere probably felt like winning the lottery for him.

We all wanted him to succeed. We all hoped that Eichorst knew what he was doing. None of those things panned out. Now we just play out the season and hope we can land a good coach in the off-season.

So, if that's what you're looking forward to, do you hope they win out?

To add on Riley... I 100% and COMPLETELY believe he bought in on Nebraska and this program. He opened his mind and embraced everything. He fully loves this state and Uni. He said as much and I believe he is a man of his word.

Therein lies the difficulty. After Bo, we wanted someone to come in and embrace Nebraska. The players. The fans and the people. He has done all of that. He checked off all of those lists that Bo sneered at. All that remained was results...

He mended fences. He dealt with player Stockholm Syndrome. He dealt with relations between team and fans. He has done one hell of a job.

I know what you are saying, but I was one of those "sunshine pumpers", too. Just remember, those guys love NU just as much as you do. What good is it going to do to beat your chest and rub it in a fellow Husker fan's face about how wrong they (and I) where?

Plus, posters from other boards will be heading over here in droves to see what kind of meltdown NU fans are in. Let's try to prove to everyone that we try to live up to "through these gates....."

Steve P put us on a pedestal. To put ones self on a pedestal, is to display where the standard lies.

I saw today's game live. Hearing the boos for our QB, put me in a place of embarrassment that was below losing to NIU. The standard does not lie in any one or which program.

It's a facetious lie and likely a gambit from Steve to help keep his job in place. If so, it's very disheartening that the same shackles continue their hold on common sense.

Good series of posts here. Thanks for getting it started, Dana.

I don't think this means we need to "candy-coat" postings, because that simply would not be an honest representation of our opinions. Rather, we should all try to be respectful and appreciative of the players and coaches who are wearing Husker red. Easier said than done during these struggling times, but I agree it's a better look than beating up our own.

We're in for more rough times this year, but it looks like program leadership is ready to do what is needed to restore the order. Kudos to them.

You & timnsun admitted you were wrong(apologized) in posts, others haven't. Until they do, they can suck it. Screw the other fans, I know how to deal with them.
BTW- While you sunshine pumpers are here in your safe place board, there are multiple Husker posters defending our program on the national board. You think it's tough here, venture out to see what it takes to be nationally relevant. Put some hair on your nuts, and earholes.

Oh please... don’t act like an innocent victim here. You started so much crap on here directed at sunshine pumpers long before retaliation from guys like me.

“Look at me, I was right about Riley, but guys like timnsun called me names! Boohoo!”

Just remember why guys like me took issue with your posts to begin with. Critical from the start, you never respected these coaches, not from the start. That’s why guys like me gave you so much crap and even devolved into name calling, because you never respected the coaches from the start.

You don't get apologies because no one cares that you think you are right.

There's a point where you need to grow a pair yourself and understand everyone has their own opinions, and they don't always have to be the same.

For all the crap the players are going through, they haven't quit or blasted fans on Twitter. I hope they turn it around and shock us all. They deserve better than to be trashed by so-called "fans" who care more about saying "I told you so" than NU winning.
X1000. These players are being led by good people, not angry ********. Not that it will stop the likes of Jason Peter and Cable Guy from trashing everything and burning the coaches house down.

A .500 career coaching record was not opinion, it was #UCFacts Smokin :DSmokin

Same winning percentage as the future savior of NU football. But I won't go around calling Frost a loser if he is hired. I'll support him 100% and won't post about what a loser coach he is if/when he gets his butt handed to him by Meyer or Harbaugh.

Not excusing my behavior beforehand... the product on the field shows you were right. I just bristled at the way you treated the coaches. Stupidly, I took it upon myself to defend the coaches, and did so in pretty poor ways.
You did not do it in a poor way. There is nothing wrong with supporting a regime that embraces the fans and program. Why that is such a bad thing is laughable. Everyone knows why there are people now crowing "I told you so.

I don't necessarily not believe in Frost, the same as I don't necessarily believe in Riley.

Problem around here, many take 99% of their time hoping for something to stroke their own ego, rather than just being a fan.

Or how he does not yet have a win against a single team with a winning record. I will support any future coach, and not trash them from day one so I can be pathetic and say "I am right" every time something negative happens.

....and timnsun, I still like Riley. I think he COULD succeed somewhat here. Maybe not at a championship level, but at least improve our roster and in turn, leave us in a better position to compete. Then at least we wouldn't be getting 408 dropped on us or getting boat raced by a 7-5 team in a title game.

I just think the writing is on the wall and he most likely will not get that chance.

Agree 100%. I do think the caliber of players will be better than before. We just need to get them coached up.

Riley is the kind of guy you want to see succeed I think everyone would agree with that. Do not however mix that up with his ability to coach

Yeah, but bitching all the time is a choice. Also, Frost is technically a .500 coach for now too if you want to talk facts, right?

Yeah, cause a 40 year career .500 record is the same as a 2 year .500 record. After a winless year previous I might add. Duh.

I didn't TREAT the coaches any way. THEY DON'T READ THIS BOARD! I threw stones at UNL administration for keeping peelini too long with an expensive contract extension when they knew he had a personality issue. Then, went and hired an outsider AD who took the liberty of doing a one man coach search that concluded in hiring a 40 yr career .500 coach who was going to get fired at OSU. That coach decides our passionate, blue collar style football program should be turned into a west coast pansy *** pro style offense. YOU guys defended these decisions by personally insulting, not me(I can take it) but every person who knew Riley was the wrong coach. And the mods let the personal insults happen. Now you ask for forgiveness? I'll think about it, but until I make my decision,
