They will be fine. Unlike us, they have recruited at an elite level. They may not win a national title, but they will be very good. And they have great coaches. Their facilities are just as good as ours, they have fan support as good as ours, and Columbus makes Lincoln look like Wahoo. They are also in prime recruiting soil. So instead of gloating over them losing seven guys, maybe we should be worried about our 6-7 coach.

Read that they will have two more declare as well. That makes 9 juniors plus a few seniors. I know they reload but that is still a butt load of experience to lose.

well I'd have to guess this should help our chances of winning our game against them, we do have a lot of experience comming back, I just hope Tommy plays flawless and we have good run game going in the OSU game.

Their roster is loaded. They lose experience, but that talent that will hit the field won't be a problem.

Is the next announcement that Urb has health problems and plans to "retire"?

As a fan of OSU, the best part is that opposing fan bases make jokes about Meyer's "health issues", laugh triumphantly for their barb, and pat themselves on the back for their original sarcasm, while all Meyer does is go and win a National Championship.

As far as how all the players leaving will affect the team, regardless of the bulk of talent potentially replacing them, there will still be a learning curve and rookie mistakes that will probably lead to several losses. Maybe that causes stress on Meyer enough to make him consider leaving, or it might make him salivate on the potential for the team to make another championship run in 2017.

our best shot is if we play OSU early on in the season, now if we catch them towards the end, they will have plenty if time to learn and jell together.

4 and 5 star players all over the place to replace them.
DL will actually be better..OL will be better and we still have our QB.
young BUT SUPER TALENTED.

Define "several" losses. We used to think that was three. Then, you know, Callahan, Pelini, Riley . . . well, you know.

it does help having talent but it only gets you so far if they have only played a hand full of minutes, we all know this. especially when your going against a team that has talent too and have a ton of experience comming back. For us Huskers, our best shot to beat OSU will be next year because after next year we lose A lot of important guys. Next year is our best shot, possibly only shot we have to beat these guys for a few years.

Nothing but a few years of Top 5 classes waiting to take their place. They'll be just fine.

The only thing that can sink tOSU is their culture. Very interesting article on how crazy things got at UF right before Meyer left. Having 7-9 guys want to leave early seems kinda crazy, but I guess if you won one title and then you know the repeat isn't happening, you might as well go make your money.

Really hard to know if there is fire with the smoke. I can barely tie my shoes, but I can think about how it would feel. You win a national championship playoff the prior year. This year you don't even play in the conference championship. You might even be the best team in the conference, but you lost just that one game during the regular season. It might just be time to move on.

Right now there's only one Big Ten school capable of winning the National Championship. Michigan's trajectory will place them in this category as well, barring any hiccups, in a few years. For the sake of the Big Ten's future, Nebraska and Wisconsin have to step up. Wisconsin must fix their coaching culture to stop defections, and Nebraska needs to get its act together with an identity. Both schools must recruit better. Ohio State was as advertised, but they didn't match their talent level on the field with effort this year.

Can they recruit seven more to fill the "declared" slots?
It's not called recruiting at their level, it's called reloading. They had 16 4 or 5 stars the following year so you'll likely see them do it again next year, and the year after etc.

That's a nice thought, but is far from a slam dunk (LSU does the same thing every year and as a result hasn't played in a national title since Bo was roaming the sideline). This year was a slam dunk and they slept walked through nearly the entire year. Now the experienced talent gets replaced by inexperienced talent, not to mention Urban Meyer has a reputation for raising the level of play quickly at X school, but there has been little evidence that he can sustain it over a long course of time... fair or unfair.

You might want to have that chip on your shoulder checked. That can't be fun carrying around that much pent up frustration. Lighten up, Reggie.

something does not feel right about all this - I wonder if there is trouble in paradise at OSU

Your comment made me laugh. I can understand how having that many players entering the draft might be a foreign concept for you but fact is this team is just so loaded. Why would there need to be a problem for those young men wanting to cash in on their talent? Maybe you ought not trust your feelings so much.

All I will say is that if you have 9 players leave early and they all are high caliber NFL prospects, then Urban Meyer is one of the greatest recruiters in the world, but a coach who does seem to have a problem dealing with that type of talent. Look at what happened at Florida while he was there. I will say this and I maybe wrong, but you don't have that many guys leave early if everything is fine at OSU. Elliot's comments after their loss to MSU was more than just being upset. I will be surprised if they win another National Title while Meyer is there.

Are you trying to convince me that losing 9 players early to the draft and of course any seniors you had whether they are drafted or not is a good thing?

They lose 9 players and will still be a great team next year and contend for a conference championship like we use to do.

The Huskers beat a team, that beat a team, that has 9 NFL ready juniors on it? We are pretty good! Too bad we had to lose to Purdue and Illinois in order to work the kinks out........ Sarcasm abounds!

I doubt there is anything going on other that a bunch of talented players who figure they already have a ring, one next year is no guarantee especially with so many other teammates leaving, and coming back is a financial risk to their future. Also, maybe some of these guys know there is talent on the depth chart behind them, and best to leave while on top?

Next year is our best at beating these guys. After next year we lose a lot and probably have a very yound QB to go along with it. For us, its next year or it will probably be awhile before we have a shot of beating OSU.
