When the Leach experiment is over, which I think will be soon, would you take another run at Joe Judge? Know the Giants didn't work out, although some of it was out of his control, but the NFL hasn't worked for several very good college coaches. I think he is going to be a very good head coach at some point.

Let me get this straight, you’re calling Mike Leach (who is likely one of the most proven coaches in the country) an experiment, all the while wanting to bring in a guy that has been a HC for a whopping 2 years (and sucked).

Why do you think he is going to be a very good head coach at some point? What has he accomplished that would make you think that?

Yes I did, Leach is a hired gun and thats it. He is collecting a check (a very large one at that) all while he has one *** check on a barstool in Key West. Look I don't blame him, given the opportunity I would too. Ask anyone close to the program, he shows up after lunch, skips recruiting visits because he sleeps in, and basically deals with nothing but on the field activity (which hasn't been very good), his assistant does all his other duties.
If he does great I will be the first to say I was wrong, but I think the next few years are going to be much of the same. You can't run an SEC program the way he does, and expect more. We have the Key West Leach, not the Texas Tech Leach. Leach was Cohen's fallback when Judge took the NYG job.

He had some good moments his fist season, and they showed some very good improvement, they also fought hard. I think he is smart and has been around the best in the business, also in the pros the situation often dictates success (If Miami had taken Drew Brees, Nick might still be in he pros).

I’m guessing if he had not attended MSU, you would not be advocating for what will likely be a career assistant from here on out to be the HC at MSU.

Likely not, I likely wouldn't know who he was (I got your point here), and I also think it is very early to call him a likely career assistant. There is a reason the NYG offered him on the spot. Also, I was not necessarily advocating for him, my first statement was would you take him and that I think he will be a good coach one day. But that being said, I would certainly take him if the opportunity presented itself.

Yes we know those 15k post you made certainly make you a message board authority! Mine was strictly an opinion, with a little knowledge of how he runs things sprinkled in. I'm not hating, I think our play on the field speaks for itself. I'll bet you dinner at 44 Prime we will not win 8 regular season games next year or the next and will likely be 6-6 with a bowl game.

Do a little research on one of his first recruiting trips. They skipped three meetings because he is so slow in the morning. Obviously the recruiting coordinators have adjusted their meetings now, but it was a very bad way to start. Look he is easy to like and root for, I've had drinks with him and love listening to him (for the first 10 minutes). But, in my opinion, his method is not sustainable in the SEC.

Leach may not end up being here a long time and may not get us to 10
Wins but to suggest to can him and replace him with judge is just asinine.

You must be an old buddy of judge or something. He does not have the experience to be a college head coach.

This thread reminds me of the telephone game we played in elementary school.... I said nothing about canning Leach and hiring Judge, I simply asked the question if you would take him when the Leach experiment doesn't work out.
This is funny considering the fanbase was excited about Judge a few years ago...

You're saying we'll have much of the same beating teams like LSU, Texas A&M, and Auburn over the next few years? Cool!

If it really was just an opinion you wouldn't feel the need to post a strong challenging and negative answer every on every following post that goes against your idea.

Post count smack? Really? The only thing that 15,000 plus posts would imply is that I've been following SEC sports on this board for a long time and that would surely mean I don't know anything thing. You got me good. I'm just an old Dawg.

Hey Bill Nye, what do they call an experiment that works every time it’s tried? A law.

You said “when the Leach experiment doesn’t work”

Words mean things. And you trying to backtrack from yours is a bad look.

Strictly an opinion? Where did you state that this was your opinion?

“ he shows up after lunch, skips recruiting visits because he sleeps in, and basically deals with nothing but on the field activity (which hasn't been very good), his assistant does all his other duties.”

Instead you lead it with “ask anyone close to the program?”

You started out as a troll and quickly became someone who struggles with the truth.

I will take that bet. Only caveat is since I have no desire to meet you, much less dine with you, I will be sending a gift card if it’s less than 8. 8 or more and you can take Hadad.

Sorry olblue you are right, those are facts, the opinion is, I don't think you can run a SEC program that way.
Not sure what truth I'm struggling with? The truth is I don't think Leach is the right fit to advance our program - I hope I'm wrong. I was also asking the question about Judge, and stating that I think he will be a good coach at some point.
Honest question - What gives you faith that Leach will be anything other than what we have seen for the past two seasons - win a game he shouldn't lose a game or two he shouldn't.

You said you simply asked a question and then proceeded to accuse the coach of missing recruiting visits because he’s sleeping in. Nobody here believes you know Leach’s habits.

You may chalk that up to having a vivid imagination but that’s called lying from where I come from.

Actually I’m not having dinner with you so it doesn’t matter if you think I would like you or not. Either way this isn’t 7th grade so take the bet or move along.

How does one research his recruiting trips? Message board rumors?

I'm wondering when you guys will realize to get above the "bowl game every year" level we are living at will take an order of magnitude more money to get the team we want. The coach is just part of that journey. I don't that will ever happen. But please, go on about the coach and how he can scheme and coach em up.

Yes I did, Leach is a hired gun and thats it.

2 days ago I posted the comme t below in response to someone calling Leach a mercenary.
It applies to your dumb claim too.
Prior to MSU, Leach coached at Texas Tech for 10 years and would have continued, if he had the choice. He then sat out for a few years and went to Washington State for 8 years.

How is that a 20 year record of a mercenary? When that term is used, its typically referring to the idea that mercenaries are in it to make money at the expense of beliefs and jump to the highest bidder. Leach spent a long time at the two prior places he was head coach.

I worked in college athletics for 15 years. Every coach I know always said that your second season at a school will be tougher than your first. First year is the honeymoon/grace period, where everyone is trying to prove themselves. Second season there are higher expectations from fans and administration plus you get a lot more pushback from players that you didn't recruit.

My personal opinion is that Joe Judge would get eaten alive in the SEC. Guys transitioning from the NFL with little to no college experience usually don't fare well at all. You would essentially have a HC that would know little to nothing about the recruiting game.

JJ strikes me as a guy that would embrace recruiting less than Leach does.
