USMNT vs. El Tri at Cincinnati - 8 pm ct
Christian Pulisic is not going to start — no surprise considering he’s been out for two months before he played against Malmö last week.
Zack Steffen will start ahead of Matt Turner at goalkeeper. Steffen had been first choice until back spasms and covid kept him out of play in September.
Sergino Dest and Gio Reyna are not in camp because of injuries.
The Athletic expects a 4-3-3 of
Steffen
Antonee and Miles Robinson, Zimmerman, and Yedlin
Adams, McKennie, and Musah
Aaronson, Pepi, and Arriola
I’d like a win but El Tri is tough.
I think a draw is likely.
Other CONCACAF WCQ matches:
Panama at Honduras — Honduras is the only team in the Octagon without a win. There’s a decent chance they can win as they’ve played well at home but Panama has done decently on the road.
Jamaica at El Salvador — El Salvador can defend at home but Jamaica have Antonio and Bailey on their roster.
Costa Rica at Canada — Canada has Alphonso Davies who is outstanding. The Ticos are old and Keylor Navas will not be at goal tonight. Expect a Canada win.
