We are going for the first time this year and could use some recommendations from those who have been before.

ETA: We are flying into College Station and staying 3 miles from the stadium.

If you see a whimsical looking bunch of guys all dressed in white flashing what appear to be gang signs, no need for panic

Dixie Chicken is the tourist trap type place, kinda like Little Dooey is in Starkville. It's a bar with burgers and chicken strips (Texas style, served with white gravy.)

Wings n More has always been my go to for cold beer and watching other games.

Fuego is pretty damn good tacos. The Fuego Deluxe breakfast taco is the best breakfast taco I have ever had.

You probably won't have the time to head over to Lexington for the best BBQ on earth at Snow's, but Fargo in Bryan is pretty good too.

We saved quite a few $$$ by staying in Huntsville and driving over to catch their off campus shuttle in College Station. We ate at Hullbaloo Diner in College Station. It was featured on Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives at some point. Portions there are HUGE!
Also, Huntsville is home to Sam Houston State Univ, so they have tons of good places to eat there as well. I know it's about 50 miles to College Station, but the sticker shock of hotel rooms on gameday in CS forced me to look outward. Their shuttle system is really nice.
Anything more specific, please feel free to ask.

Yeah Huntsville sucks... especially on the weekends when all of the inmates friends and family are in town for visitation. On the bright side it doesn't look like there is an execution that weekend. But you can still go take the prison driving tour... 7 prison units in the area. Over 13,000 inmates in Walker county. The largest employer in Huntsville area, Texas Department of Criminal Justice with over 6,000... Nearly twice as many employees as Sam Houston State... A university with over 20K enrolled.

If you take the Google suggested route from Olive Branch there you will pass a Buc-ee's in Madisonville, Tx. Don't worry, you will see the signs. It's a smaller older one, about 32 gas pumps is all they have. But it's something you should stop and see if you have never been to one.

Skip Buc-cee's. It like Wal-Mart now on every corner. If you are coming south on 45, Woody's Smokehouse in Centerville is the spot. Best beef jerky on earth.

And FYI. Anyone driving from the Memphis area to College Station... Don't follow the routes on Google maps. They will take you down a shitload of FM roads or 2 lane highways with 500 red lights in East Texas. Go through the Dallas area. I-30, I-635, I-45. The map will tell you it's 20 minutes longer, but in reality it's an hour faster. As long as you don't hit rush hour traffic on 635.

You do not want to drive those stupid *** roads in East Texas. I think they bribed Google/Apple to lie about the drive times. Plus you will get a ticket. It's there number one industry ahead of sister kissing.

what are you looking to do? Wife worked there for a while, lots of stuff to do around there. Dixie Chicken is good even though it's busy, The Republic steak place is really good, Chimy's is a cool spot to hang out and grab a burger. CJ's BBQ is great! Fargo's and Martin's are also good for BBQ. they used to cater Buppy's all the time for her department there at A&M. It was always good. So tons of good bbq especially brisket. they do it right in Texas. TexMex can be good there too a few chains like freebirds and Chuys to me was always good there. good quality for chains. Depending on which way you go there is stuff to do a long the way outside of houston waco and dallas. i got to know those backroad roads really well between shreveport and bryan you can go really fast.

Nah, Buc-ee's is a hoot the first few times you go to one. But I skip the one in Baldwin County I pass all the time because there just too many people there and I can't get in and out quickly.

Like Yogi Berra said. No one goes there nowadays, it’s too crowded.

Wife and I went out there in 2019. We flew into Houston and stayed close to the airport that night. Unfortunately, it was an 11 AM kickoff, so we had to leave early Sat. morning and didn't get to see much other than pre-game parade. If I had it to do over again, I would stay much closer to the campus. Would love to have seen more but just didn't happen. George Bush library and burial site site was highly recommended. Even though we got pounded on the field, we enjoyed the trip. Campus is flat and wide, but pretty. Lots of traditions there. Go prepared for cold weather if forecast is for warm weather and vice-versa.

Skip buc-cee's! Dollar general is where its at! You find the right location and you can get a good deal on some food and a hooker outside.

We are flying to College Station, so we’ll miss Bucees. We’ve been to the one in AL off I-10. It was an experience for sure.

Mainly places to eat and things to do. We’ll be at the game most of the day Saturday but we’ll have Friday and Sunday to do whatever before we fly back.

I’m pumped to get TexMex and brisket. Thanks for the recommendations.

…my advice would be to not drink it.***
