Is this a case of OM being pretty good or Louisville being bad? OM’s D looking improved so far, but I can’t tell if it’s mostly just ****** O from UL.

Credit to OM’s defense for being better. How much better is yet to be determined because Louisville appears to have zero passing game. Cunningham’s throws like a girl and they have zero receivers.

They are definitely more physical though and play with an edge we have seen since the peak Freeze years.

This Cunningham kid is absolutely terrible… so you’ll be pleased to know he ripped us to shreds in the Music City Bowl two years ago. Just in case you need any more reason to be mad about that game.

Hope we're emphasizing keeping your head up in practice. That's 4 players in the first half so far.

We knew Ole Miss offense was going to be good. I thought UL would be better. It is going to be hard to judge after this game. I did turn the volume to zero. Can't take Herbie.

It’s early, but the “no offensive coordinator” experiment being run at Louisville seems to be a failure thus far.

Great. I’m sure he’s adequate enough to keep people off balance when throwing off play action. But are you actually watching the guy?

If you slow down the run and force Cunningham to stay in the pocket, he is awful. Credit to OM for doing that though.

OM objectively looks like a 7 to 9 win team, which is what most expected from them going into the year.

Louisville looks like a team not far away from firing its coach.

I posted his stats. Those aren't the stats of an awful qb. Do you think a season or a half is a better sample to judge a player by?

I think a college QB can have solid stats, be a serviceable player/game manager in a run heavy offense, and still be awful if forced to stay in the pocket. See Chris Relf and Nick Fitzgerald. If they played in the ACC, their stats would have been similar.

Again, credit to OM for keeping him in the pocket and executing their plan. They are forcing Cunningham to play off his weakness, which is what they are supposed to do. All of these things can be true.

Face it guys, Ole Miss looks good.

They look the same on offense as last year and a little better on defense than last year.

I'm sure the narrative will be Heisman hopeful and D win monumental victory in Atlanta as they march towards a certain sec championship and showdown with Alabama

Ole Miss looked like a team playing their first game on the road at a neutral site with scattered crowd. They probably put this away early with a home crowd or Elijah Moore. They are going to score points. Surprise!!! It may be first game jitters but they did not take over the game offensively till late and miss Moore, so would we.

Defensively they looked small up front. All that stunting and blitzing every play won't work for long against other teams on their schedule.

Lousville would probably lose to La Tech and that's not sour grapes. Ole Miss might too.

Let's see how they look against Tulane in a couple of weeks after they play Austin Peay High School.

They put it away early, it was 26-3 at half and cruised in the second half with no head coach on the sideline. They get the penalties worked out they could be really good.

Did you watch the game? They absolutely dominated. Up 26-0 at halftime. Cruised in the second half. I hate them too but I can admit they looked really good tonight. Their defense looks to be much improved and Corral threw some absolute darts. Of course, Louisville could be really bad, so we’ll see how it goes once they get in to SEC play.

Kinda what I was saying I just didn't deep throat them enough I guess because I thought they could have been even further ahead against that team after the way the first drive looked.

I'll work on it.

It's uncanny. Every single year OM completely "dominates" their first game and people start jumping off bridges while OM fans start booking hotel rooms for the playoffs. The first coworker I saw this morning was an OM fan and he almost broke his neck trying to get to me just to say "Ole Miss played some BALL last night, didn't they?!?!"

Let's wait until they play a real team before we decide they are the greatest team to ever walk the earth. They are desperate to get that baseball national championship taste out of their mouths, so this year will be exceptionally bad.

OM had lost their last 2 season openers before last night

It's hard to tell from the Louisville game. OM's offense looked about the same as it did last year and defensively they looked better but Louisville is not very good. I know OM isn't Bama level of good (only like 1-2 other programs are) so we won't really know until they play Arkansas on October 9th... that is usually their litmus test for them whether or not they are a 6-6 team or an 8-4/9-3 team.

They marched it right down the field on the opening drive against a 3-8. Receivers running wide open and Corral hit them in stride. Notice he didn’t hold on to the ball for 4 seconds waiting for something to open up.

We need more tempo like we had in the 4th quarter. Shouldn’t have to struggle to get open against mid tier to mediocre teams. We will see what happens with our ACC opponent this weekend.
