You know what else sucks? Petty's. It was a shell of it's former self.

Heard from a reliable source

that he was planning to open a spot in that new building. (same place)

I don't know.

Yeah I was never a fan of that watery bbq “sauce”. And fries with a ton of Lawry’s seasoning salt wasn’t good either.

But maybe it’s because I grew up too close to Memphis BBQ. My favorite sauce has always been Coleman’s.

Between 360 & myself, you’re talking about two of the most loyal Petty’s patrons around from the late 90s to the mid-teens. We quit going altogether about 4 years ago due to piss-poor service & sub-standard food after multiple ****** experiences.

Funny how much of a "love it or hate it" this place was, much like Dooeys.

I've always loved Dooeys, and hated the few times I got Pettys, but I know a bunch of people feel the exact opposite. Regardless, sad to see it go.

I've said it before, but Petty's went downhill after he "allegedly" had to stop selling the 4 figure bbq plates out the back.

And the last time I went there it was not good at all.

Aside: Where is a good place to get Q in Starkville now? Before you say it. Dooey never had great Q, but the catfish is great.

Neither Petty’s or Dooey’s were very high on my places to eat. For BBQ, we’d make the short trip to Sonnys and try to ignore the Sevin dust sprinkled around the interior walls.

Late 90's through early 2000s if you went to Petty's or Little Dooey, epic fail on your part. Sonny's was the best BBQ in town by far. No, not the chain out of Florida. Roosevelt Nichols. The best BBQ man the south has ever been graced with.

For about the last year Petty's was excellent again. The lady was mostly running it and it had come back around to great again
