Best Food in Omaha

Any suggestions for a first timer to Omaha? Family friendly is preferred. Are any of the steakhouses worth a stop?

There are a ton of good restaurants of all kinds in Omaha. I'd suggest searching well reviewed restaurants that are up your alley and then asking if anyone here has been there.

Great steakhouses are kind of what they're known for, it's a cattle town. Gorat's and Anthony's are two that have been around for a long time and are still solid as far as I know.

Gorat's > Drover

That's not a negative toward Drover. It's really good also. I just think Gorat's is better. Drover has always gotten the pub from the D1 baseball guys from before D1 baseball existed.

Spezia is pretty good Italian food. Oasis in downtown had surprisingly good falafel for a place like Omaha. As others have said... The Drover is great. The old school kitsch is great, but I haven't been since the fire.

If you’re looking for something other than a steakhouse, we like The Spaghetti Works in the Old Market District. Reasonably price, good for families, we didn’t have any issues with the food.

Just got back to the hotel after eating the whiskey ribeye at The Drover… It’s delicious. Best steak I’ve had.

It was $44 for the whiskey ribeye. It comes with your choice of lobster bisque or salad bar and a side of loaded baked potato, fries or veggies. I had water only for some much needed hydration but I imagine if you ordered a few drinks it could rack up an expensive bill. I thought it was pretty reasonable. The steak was 14oz so it was a ton of meat.
