Texas really had a pretty easy path to Omaha...

They drew Southern, ASU, and Fairfield in the regional round. Southern got there by somehow winning their conference tourney. ASU was the two seed but was so dissatisfied they canned their coach after the tournament. Fairfield was an RPI darling that won every game but beat nobody. Then TX drew 4 seed South Florida in the supers. A team that had close to a 500 record and won by virtue of Miami and UF being vastly overrated as evidenced by a 3 vs 4 seed regional final.

We got through the regional fairly easily but got a very challenging super opponent with ND.

Does the fact that we have already faced a highly competitive team in the post season give us any advantage over UT who pretty much had a cake walk to omaha?

I don't know if it gives any advantage but I do not feel like Texas is a better team than ND. Im feeling like we should handle them again. I was concerned more about getting past ND tbh. Im thinking Tennessee is gonna be the stiffest competition in Omaha

ND is a superior batting team than Texas. Not even close.

Texas on average has better pitching.

I honestly feel that we just beat one of the best teams in baseball. That will give us confidence and we know we belong in Omaha and honestly in the championship game.

Agree. It doesn’t give us an advantage, but I really don’t think they’re any better than the team we just play. They pitch it better for sure, but ND’s lineup is better than Texas’s. I don’t see a huge difference in Texas, Tennessee, or even UVA. All are good teams and none are unbeatable.

All things considered, I think the Big 12 was overrated this year and the ACC was pretty underrated. The Big 12 was basically Texas, TTU, TCU, a solid OSU team, then a bunch of crap. The ACC was a little down compared to usual, but they played fewer non-conference games and beat each other up a lot.

ND finished 5 games ahead of the same NC State team that just took two in Baum. That team we just beat this weekend was legit and definitely an Omaha quality opponent.

I look more at the Big 12’s struggles than Texas’s path to Omaha. Oklahoma State was a completely forgettable 2 seed. TCU and Texas Tech were huge disappointments as Top 8 seeds. Maybe Texas is far better than both but I’m very skeptical.

Let’s not do this again. Seems like only a few days ago we were calling ND soft and they certainly weren’t. Let’s not assume Texas is soft by convincing ourselves they had a cushy path to get here. Nobody’s a pushover at this stage.

Don’t think anyone is calling Texas soft. They are good but haven’t been tested at the same level we have this year. Just like ND, who we beat.

FWIW - Before regional play, Texas was 8-8 against NCAA tournament teams. We were 15-11. So far in the tournament, they have played 3 games against automatic qualifying teams and 2 games against mediocre Fairfield and ASU teams.

Texas isn't soft. ND was probably the hottest team from the regionals.

I honestly believe all 8 teams have a decent chance to get some momentum and win it all. We are 1 of those 8.

Texas has good pitching but so do we. We will need momentum to win and fans being there yelling for our team helps that. It matters that we have a good number of fans there.

Yeah, I definitely would not say they are not a good team or capable of winning it all. I just think ND might be better than Texas. I was worried about beating them. Texas might spank our *** but we will see. Them boys looked like they were on fire that last game against ND so I'm pretty fired up about their chances

Seeing how TCU and TTU out of the Big 12 fared against much better competition than what Texas saw in their regional and SR makes me somewhat optimistic about Sunday night's game.
