Was the SEC a bit overrated this season?...

Haven't delved deeply in the numbers but I'd say thus far it appears the SEC has underperformed while the ACC and Pac 10 has exceeded expectations in the Regional/Super rounds.

SEC sent 9 teams to tourney 7 NS and 4 top 8. 2 in CWS with 1 possible

ACC sent 7 teams to tourney 1 NS and 0 top 8. 1 in CWS and 2 more possible

Pac 10 sent 6 teams to tourney 2 NS and 1 top 8. 2 in CWS

I suppose a lot will depend on what happens today and then certainly in Omaha.

I don't think so. I do think we all beat up on each other, and I think some of our programs had some pretty ill-timed injuries.

It's really hard to say Ark was over rated. If we win today I'd say ratings were spot on. If Ark was in and we win, you could make the argument the sec didn't get enough respect.

No doubt. This weekend has been brutal for the SEC. But it's still probably the top league in the country, with 5 super regional teams and 2-3 CWS teams. The ACC and PAC-12 are a lot closer than people realized though.

Good Lord pat. That's pretty damn nit-picky. How is it overrated if it's the best league in the country. How many varying degrees is it?

From top to bottom it's easily the best, there's no question.

No it wasn’t overrated. If Hogland doesn’t get hurt Ole Miss is probably in Omaha. If Pallette and Vermillion for Arkansas don’t get hurt in the SEC tournament they win this weekends series as well.

I don't think so. If OM doesn't have two important pieces of their team go down, they are EASILY a top three team along with Arkansas and Vandy....

We, on the other hand, are very fortunate to be one game away from the CWS. I think we will figure it out nd win tonight and make it, eventhough ND is a better offensive team by far than we are.

Arkansas and OM were a shell of themselves by the end of year. Florida is the one that I don’t really get, but they were wildly inconsistent all year so maybe that shouldn’t be a shock.

NC State got hot at the right time and that left hand closer they have was ridiculously good at UPig.

Baseball is whoever is hot at the moment….I think like football, the SEC beats up on each other…. This time of year is all about who is healthy and who is playing well.

I know several teams including UT, Ark, Carolina, and to some degree Vandy had some guys return this year that would have been drafted last year if there had been 10 rounds instead of 5, so had last year played out, it is hard to say how dominate the league would be but State lost 2 First Rounders and a 2nd.

As well as this team has done to this point, imagine how 2020 “might” have played out with Hatcher(hit better early last year) , Foscue, Westburg, Alexander, Landon Jordan, Rowdy Jordan, Tanner Allen and Logan Tanner playing behind JT Ginn, Christian MacLeod, Will Bednar, and Landon Sims.

That is essentially what you have with Tennessee, Arkansas, Arizona, NC State, Notre Dame and even Vandy somewhat this year. Ole Miss and Florida were also loaded last year.

Simply amazing the success the Top 8 in the SEC had this year to this point as well.

This SEC is better top to bottom than any other one conference this season, and any one team from the SEC most likely beats any other team in the country if only playing a single game. However, it seems like all the other non-SEC teams left are more well rounded teams than the strongest SEC teams. I don't see a SEC team winning it all this year.

We probably lose Rowdy, TA and Hatcher (as weird as that sounds) too. TA was the SEC POY, remember that. We have benefitted just as much as others. We'll probably see the big benefits next year, as we also got 2-3 high school pitchers, Tullar, and Clark, to campus who might not have made it otherwise.

I'm not a baseball expert, though I do love watching, but do different conferences have different pitching styles in general?
For example - UCLA when we played for the championship, and Arizona/Dalbec when they came here. We are a very good offensive team both those times and went cold at the plate.
Maybe we just get familiar w/ our conference opponents, but new faces/syles come to haunt us (and other teams as well).

I don't know, but for sure Arkansas was a great team, just couldn't hit the ball yesterday. Had they gotten in, it would be 3 SEC teams, and we wouldn't even be having this conversation.

You're taking a snapshot at one moment. The SEC got 6 teams into the supers, or over one third of the teams. The ACC only got three in. Imagine if we lose tonight and it's 3/3, but then it's Vandy vs. Tennessee in the finals. Then the SEC looks really good again.
