Some good stuff where I asked this last weekend.

I ended up eating at Bulldog Burger, the chicken finger and cheese fries place by bin 612, and Starkville Cafe. The rest was at the ballpark.

Central Station Grill brunch has been great the last couple of times I’ve been there

Starkville Cafe was downright horrible the last time I was in town. I'd heard it had trended terribly downward.

I ate at Uno Mas a couple of days ago....and liked it way more than Humble Taco. Good chips and salsa, had a chorizo taco and a scallop taco...both really good. wear your shades it's bright as hell in there.

For Mexican there is El Vera Cruz on Stark Rd that is good. Their fried cheesecake dessert is unreal. Anthony's in West Point is very good. Ate there last week for the first time for my anniversary.

To answer the question as was asked, from a Starkville citizen well versed in the restaurant scene (got the gut to prove it)....

Lunch #1
This is where we want to set a good base for the weekend. I would advise to go the consistent yet very satisfying route of Bulldog Burger. Good vibes, catch a table outside. Get the Cotton District feel but without being at ground zero where all the children are at. Get whatever burger suits you, but BE SURE TO GET THE ONION RINGS. I also advise on the philly spring rolls.

Dinner
Lot of different cards to play here. Without know your specific situation, I’m surprisingly going to advise Harvey’s here. I’ll be the first to admit that Harvey’s has not been highly regarded by me in the past. However, since renovations and some changes to the menu, they’ve got it together now. Catch a table in the bar are if possible, don’t sweat it if you can’t. Get the blackened catfish and ask for the crawfish sauce on top. For appetizer get the crawfish pimento dip. Absolutely banging.

Lunch #2
I’m going to go new wave here and suggest Uno Mas. Yes, it’s Mexican but it I feel as if it makes a good balance between traditional Mississippi Mexican with an upscale twist that is reflected in the food quality. The chorizo mole enchiladas are spot on. They spit out some fire margaritas as well. Very affordable unlike that trendy taco shop down the road that desecrated the City Bagel building.

Bulldog burger ; The Lauren with tater tots and cheese fondue
Two Brothers; the Pork Belly Tacos or the Wings.

Ribeye sandwich for lunch or dinner

Salmon for dinner.

...but just about everything that have tried there, has been good to me.

Lunch 1. Bulldog Deli... Club wrap, 2 packets of gulden's spicy brown mustard, and a side of potato salad.

Dinner. El Sombrero... Super burritos covered in red sauce.

Lunch 2. Christy's... Double Christy with your favorite accoutrements. Fries with nacho cheese. Watch out for the soft spot in the subfloor by the drink machine.

Bonus. Early evening drinks at Flo and Eddie's. Draft Coors Light and spinach and artichoke dip as well as cheese sticks for the table.


You'll need one of these to find these places, set the date for June 11 2001. You will probably see me in my prime at all 4 locations.

I ate there last weekend. Omlette was fine, so was the biscuit. But the hashbrowns were inedible. They seemed like they had been cooked to burnt the day before and set in the fridge overnight.

Lunch/dinner: 2 Bros, Bin, Rosey Baby (the crawfish quesadilla with rosey fries is one of the best things in town), Georgia Blue, Bulldog Burger, Mugshots, Camphouse

I’m gonna go ahead and say there isn’t a single restaurant in the entire city of Starkville (or in the GTR, period) that qualifies as “fru fru” in any sense of that term.

If you go to Two Brothers without getting the duck sliders, you're doing it wrong. Perhaps three trips?
