I think we missed out by not having an additional 1500-2000 chairbacks down the lines OR probably should have added them by having additional rows up - from 1st base side to 3rd base side - maybe 10-15 rows or so?
So you want to build a stadium to hold a crowd we have had once or twice ever? Part of the design philosophy of this one is that it not feel like an empty cave with a crowd of 5-6000.Why not build a stadium where all 15,000 can get in and have a clear view of the field?
I hate that you obviously missed the other 37 threads about this.I know this is an unpopular opinion but I think the lack of outfield seating was a swing and a miss for the new stadium. We went to the Saturday OM game and couldn’t see a thing from the concourse and left after the 5th inning. While it looks good on paper and TV, the concourse is useless for watching baseball. Surely the Architecture school could make some changes?
The athletic department put out feelers two years before construction to see how many people would buy tickets to games and would use that information on deciding how to build the stadium.
Clearly the ones complaining are the ones who didn’t care about baseball enough to respond so live with it and have fun on your berms while I sip on my whiskey from my club level seat.

I didn't say that. I said it was quite obviously designed so that it doesn't feel like an empty cave when there are only 5-6k there. If you build15k seats that is what it will feel like when it's half full or less, which it almost always would be.Here we go again….
“We need 15,000 seats!!!!”
”********! 5,000 seats is totally fine and its the most perfect stadium EVAR with no possible room for improvement imaginable!”
Nobody is ever winning this argument by championing either of these two extremes.

What you miss is that you never know when the days of 10-20 years ago will come back. Our crowds were pathetic until 2014. I know, I was there. It was for that reason we chose to get commitments from season ticket holders first and foremost. Sure, the stadium may be too small for our current demand, but we're also on a bull run. It might also be overinflated because we're in the greatest decade of baseball ever at MSU.You said we “nailed the stadium, it’s the best in college baseball, etc.”. From an appearance / aesthetics standpoint, yes we nailed it. From a size standpoint, we certainly did not. After spending $80 million, we shrank ourselves down to where we now have the 2nd smallest permanent seating capacity in the whole SEC West....only Auburn is smaller. We also have about 2,000 fewer seats than the old stadium had. Kind of silly when you put it in that perspective.
We could have easily remedied that by simply putting 1,000-1,500 more seats somewhere....chair back or “nice” bleachers in the outfield for GA...or a combination of the two....doesn’t matter. It’s an awesome place to watch a ballgame, but it ain’t big enough for our program. Just isn’t. Hopefully expansion happens soon.
This is the easiest expansion idea in my mind. Would add shade to those surface walking areas. And they can still add chairbacks at a second level on both sides.
Might not equal 12,000 total but they can add some. Probably will in the future.

Like I've said before, the biggest indicator is the season ticket waiting list.
As far as GA, I think they are simply out of luck as far as watching MSU baseball FROM A SEAT, unless they pay for a chairback. We simply do not have enough room. Any additional chairbacks will go to season tickets. The good news is, we have a ton of standing room.
I do wish we could work something out for GA, even if it isn't ideal. Because SRO fills up too, and this is the demand that will fluctuate so much with winning and losing.

If the days of 2001-2010 come back, none of this matters. But that’s a terrible reason to not do something. That’s like saying we shouldn’t do anything to the south end zone because we might make another Croom hire. Horrible, defeatist logic. The crowds were subpar until 2013-14 because of what happened in 2001-2010. We’re at the point of sustainability to where it can safely be assumed we won’t return to that level for any appreciable amount of time.
Yeah, he's not thinking with his emotions like a good many of our fans do.Cohen is going to be very fiscally conservative. I’m not saying that is 100% a bad thing but I don’t think you ever see Cohen leverage the athletic department up without a damn near guaranteed revenue stream to back it up. That’s how you get the 10 year seat commitment instead of just building the amount of seats we feel like we can sell.
Out of curiosity, did the athletic department explain that there would be no GA seating? That seemed to surprise a lot of people.
