I agree with you on USCe. That's going to be a little tougher than we might expect it to be. They're solid and coming off a sweep. I hope we can get two.

I like our chances in sweeping Mizzou and Bama.

That’s what I’m going with too, but I will say that our starting pitching is starting to make me a tad uncomfortable. Overall, a ridiculously deep pen still makes this one of the top pitching staffs in the country, but I honestly have to give our weekend starters a C- grade thus far. They’ve got to be better

I feel fairly confident in 5-1 against Mizzou and Bama. Mizzou is a really bad team and we should sweep them at home. We are good for one weird loss in Tuscaloosa every time we go there, but I feel like we take the series again.

I have no idea what to think of this SC series. I’ve been beating the drum for a while that they were overrated and wasn’t shocked at all that Ole Miss swept them. They are one of the worst hitting teams in the league and if we don’t commit errors or walk the park then this is a good matchup for us. Having said that, they do pitch it well and historically Columbia is a very hard place to win. I absolutely think we are better than them but because baseball is weird I won’t be shocked if we lose the series.

6-3 or 7-2 is where I’m at currently, and both should be plenty to get us a Top 8 seed. If you’re thinking SEC title then it may take as much as an 8-1 or 9-0 finish.

Admittedly I think a lot of it is less about their body of work and more about “it’s tough to win on the road”, us historically having a hard time winning series in Columbia, and then the simple fact that as good as we are, we’re beatable. A sweep is a sweep and we took care of business this weekend, but that was with one 12 inning win that required 3 innings of Landon Sims and another one run win where we didn’t look very good. So I do get some of the concern. I think we win the series but I don’t think it’s a slam dunk. And it also wouldn’t kill us if we did lose the series on the road, they have a Top 15 RPI.

No they’ve been overrated for a little while now. Sweeping Florida is impressive, and they do have a good pitching staff. But not a very good hitting team. It’s a good matchup for us all things being equal, you just don’t know about wacky things happening on the road sometimes.

I had not watched them much at all, but watched every pitch of the 3 game series this weekend and their lineup is very boom or bust. They’ve got 2-3 guys that have hit 10+ HRs but are hitting in the mid 200’s. In my eyes they’re one of those classic good, not great, SEC teams. They can absolutely beat anyone on a given day, but if State played them 10 times and the over/under was 6 wins, I’d take State and the over for sure. 6.5 would give me some pause, especially with it on the road.

They’ve got some pretty good arms, too, but nowhere near the depth that y’all have. Best bet would be MSU going 2-1. I wouldn’t be shocked if SC took 2, but I’d be a little surprised.

Wes Clarke is a must see at bat, though. He’s either going to K, pop out, or absolutely destroy a baseball. He’s hitting around .240 with 17 or 18 HRs, I think. He hit, without a doubt, the farthest ball I’ve ever seen hit in Oxford, this past weekend. It hit about a third of the way up the scoreboard in left center, which is behind the tiered seating in LF. I don’t know how the damn seams stayed on the ball.
