For about an hour I was fine afterward. But holy crap the adrenaline crash is hitting. I can barely sit upright.
I don't make retention ponds. So we have no issues there. Go forth and give all those people heck for me.

Environmental and I am 43. I didn't even get my degree in engineering until I was 32.
How do they proctor the test nowadays? When I took it in 2007, it was still everybody in a ballroom at a hotel (in my case the old Ramada by the Coliseum in Jackson), with a milk carton full of all the books you thought you'd need and whatever special calculator they allow you to use that you'll never ever use again.
In 2015, it was in the basement of the Vicksburg Convention Center. The as many books as you can manually haul and the never used before or again calculators requirements were still in affect. I couldn’t imagine taking an eight hour exam with COVID mask protocols.
That's how it was when I took and failed the chemical years ago. Now it's very different. Many of the tests are switched over to computer based. For the computer based tests they are offered every day M-F at Pearson-Vue testing centers. Along side multiple people taking all sorts of tests. I talked to somebody taking their FE, a couple of nurses taking their boards, and a guy taking his HVAC certification.
Now you bring nothing in but your locker key, your special calculator without a cover, and your drivers license. They scan your palm to go in and out. They inspect your glasses. Then they pat you down, turn out your pockets too. No pencils, no paper, no books, nothing. I kind of like this better since on the chemical I had one question where it might as well have read, "Did you bring your Perry's handbook?" It could only be reasonably answered by having the right obscure chart, which was in there.
Then they give you a fine tipped marker and five laminated sheets of legal sized engineering paper, spiral bound. You can request replacements for this as much as you like. One was sufficient for the morning and one for the evening. And you can only have one at a time. My last morning question I finished in the margins of other pages because I was finished with the book and only half way through. I couldn't lose the work from the first half of the problem.
The PC in front of you has a 24 inch monitor. For these old eyes it was good enough. Your test is on the right side, and your searchable reference handbook is on the left. You can slide them back and forth or zoom as you need. The conversion table in it sucks. But other than that the reference handbook is pretty good. Much more like taking the FE than the old PE.
The biggest change is the different questions they ask. Some questions you have to fill in a box to answer. I had one that will haunt me forever. It was a reservoir problem. So much water in, so much lost to evaporation, so much water out, so much water to start with. How much water is in there at the end of a year. I had to answer zero because the water in and starting water was so much lower than the water out I was getting. I just don't think they would have done that.
Other questions had multiple correct answers. In the old days you picked the best. Now you pick all the correct ones. So you might have six answer choices and three were right. Pick all three or else.
And the weirdest ones would be where they gave you a graph and you had to click on the right part of the graph.
One nice change is you have 8 hours to complete the test. So lets say in the old days you finished the morning in 3.5 hours. You could do whatever for a half hour, and then everybody's lunch hour started. Now if you finish the morning in 3.5 hours you get the 30 minutes you saved added to your afternoon test. You don't have to wait on everybody else to start and finish their lunch break.

It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Through this crap I have kept my mask wearing to a minimum. Thanks to almost 30 years of smoking I het real bad after about 30 minutes of wearing one. So for the last year I was just in and out of places I had to wear one. Keeping it under that time frame. Yes I had a bad time for a bit right about that mark. But by the end I just didn't notice it. More than anything now the back of my ears are sore.
I just barely graduated. I think I wound up with a 2.02 in my major (ME). I took Thermo 1 three times, I think. Thermo 2 at least twice. Cal 2 twice, Cal 3 thrice. I just wasn’t a good student. Piss poor public county high school didn’t prepare me for how to learn and study. I took the FE kind of as a joke. I didn’t think there was any way in hell I would pass it. Somehow, I did. I’ll never be able to set for the PE (because I haven’t worked under one and I’ve been in sales for over 15 years now.) Lots of friends that work for the state and consulting firms that have theirs. It is certainly a nice thing to be able to accomplish. Hope you knocked it out of the park!
One of the things I found about this world. If you ask people are willing to help a brotha out you know? Assuming you are selling to people with a P.E. you can probably get a signature or two that would work out to your advantage if you wanted to.
Holy ****, you failed Thermo I twice and still got your degree. How did you ever make it past Hodge in ESD?

Be proud of that too. Got mine at 34 turning 35 the month after and I remember how hard it was.
I think I was in a good design group. Meaning, I was the dummy of the group. I haven’t thought about Hodge and ESD in almost 20 years. I’ve had constipations that I liked more.

I took my PE right out of MSU. Little known rule at the time, you could take the PE when you graduated in state if you wanted and then wait for your four years experience to get the license. I brought in a box full of books, didn't use many. Took it at Ole Miss. Very hard test but all the questions were detailed answers, no multiple choice. I'm not sure I got any questions 100% right but I worked thru them good enough apparently. Passed the first timed. And BTW, I took Thermo I under Dr Mackie who was considered the toughest. Got an A but worked hard for it.
