A&E is running an 8 part series on legends of wrestling. Last night was on Stone Cold Steve Austin. The first episode was on Andre the Giant.

A lot of behind the scenes things on their history. I never knew how much Andre the Giant drank. Ric Flair witnessed him drink 106 beers in one sitting.

Next week is on Rowdy Roddy Piper. If you're looking for something to watch, I would recommend it.

I didn't get into wrestling until after Hogan slammed Andre in Wrestlemania and Andre's career was over. I knew he was a wrestler but knew him more for The Princess Bride.

Rick Flair said he witnessed Andre drink 106 (I think) beers one night. It was over 100 for sure.

Hogan said that Andre wasn’t doing well by then & the deal was made that he’d get pinned by Hogan in the match. But he knew Andre was a proud man & he also knew Andre could crush him if he wanted to. He wasn’t sure Andre would go through with the deal until he did.

These two guys were having them a good talk about wrestling, these guys lived and breathed it. This third guy stuck his head in and said, “Y’all do know that wrestling is fake don’t you?”

Wrestler guy #1 stops for a second to think and retorts, “Who is your favorite actor?”

3rd guy replies, “Awe man, it’s John Wayne. Nobody will ever top the Duke!”

Without missing a beat wrestler guy #2 chimes in, “And you think he really shot all them people?”

3rd guy went on about his business.

Goodness, why are you arguing with me? Like I said in my earlier post, google is your friend. Just because what you think you heard lance russell say on TV 40 years ago was joe doesn't mean he spelled his name JOE. It was Jos Leduc. Not Joe Laduc. Or Joel for that matter.

My claim to fame as a young adult was my dad told everyone he knew that his son’s picture was hanging on the wall at MS Sports Medicine next to Andre The Giant. I’m not sure if the business had that name yet back then, but was in the surgeon’s office hallway anyway, back in the day. Seems like it was the only accomplishment of mine back then.... I spose it’s because he took me to the Mississippi Coliseum on Thursday nights to see Mid-South Wrestling. As I remember it my younger sister had to go with us. He had to love that.

I saw a documentary on Andre that was great. The guy obviously had a drinking problem but he had a heart of gold. One of the real nice guys in the business.

The mention of the Rock n Roll express brought to mind Jim Cornette (he always had his tennis racket) and the Midnight Express. Other famous wrestlers not yet mentioned... The Macho Man Randy Savage (and Miss Elizabeth), the Road Warriors, Dusty Rhodes, Ole and Arn Anderson, The Hart Foundation, Sting, The Million Dollar Man Ted Dibiase, and the man behind the mike Mean Gene Okerlund

I fail to see how a man who wants to have a simple 4 cases of beer in a sitting amongst other endeavors constitutes a drinking problem.....if that is wrong, then I don’t want to be right....

Based on an online calculator I found a 520lb man who drinks 100 beers over five hours should have a BAC of 0.9%. What's wrong with that?

The Andre the Giant documentary on HBO is really good.

If you have Peacock, “The Last Ride”, documenting the last few years of The Undertaker’s career, is fantastic.

In fact, a lot of the WWE produced documentaries on Peacock that were originally for the WWE Network are really well done.
