basketball tournaments are supposed to be treated equally? They should be given an equal % of the revenue they generate to support them I agree. For them to be granted equal funds is absolutely absurd. If the women earn more then give them more.

All a sensible person has to do,

is analyze the funds actually coming into each sport.

GAME over.

This is stupid.

Without Title 9, the women are mostly setting at home.

If you look at it from only a capitalistic perspective, then yes the women's tournament should basically be played in the auxiliary gym of a high school in the Bayou.

The NCAA is a nonprofit and explicitly supports gender equity and gender equality, depending on the situation.
I guess we could change what the NCAA is as an organization...

ETA- this same argument can be made for any non-revenue men's sports too. Baseball, soccer, golf, track, cross country, etc are all revenue losers in college.

If we gave them equal % of the profits, we’d owe the men millions apiece and the women would have to pay thousands apiece to play.

And then it would decried as the public being sexist by not wanting to watch women’s and terrible men’s sports. It’s never the product’s fault, only the intended end-user.

Very few college sports are money making.

Most but not all college football makes money, most but not all college basketball makes money, a couple women's college basketball teams make money, and a few baseball teams make money.
This is based on reporting from a few years ago, so prepandemic.

College athletics at the tip of the iceberg is a money machine. Everything else is a money pit.
Most sports are subsidized. Eek, that's a naughty word!

Again, if all that's important is a capitalistic approach, then most every ncaa championship besides the men's NCAAT should be held in parks and run on shoestring budgets.
But the NCAA has clearly stated they intend to provide equity and/or equality for their members(the schools).

If people don't like that, then they dislike the fundamental way in which the NCAA is set up. It's arguing with something that is institutionally established to do the opposite of what you want.

Perhaps a nonprofit collective organization doesn't approach how they run their business the same way as a holdings or hedge fund does.
