Do kids under two need a ticket for the baseball games?

I know a guy

That used to let mom go through the gate about 5 people in front of him while he held the kid. When he was one back from the gate, he’d set the kid down and the kid would run to mom. Gate attendant never asked for the kid’s ticket.

All big 3 sports tickets were required with our oldest. We haven’t taken our youngest yet mainly b/c Covid restrictions and the added hassle of multiple young ones.

I did pitch a bit of a fit a couple of years ago and they gave me a free ticket at a baseball game for our baby. Next time I would just pay for it. I felt like a jerk, but TBH kids under 2 should be free.

I certainly don’t mind buying him one, just wanted to know ahead of time as I may not be able to easily buy him one there (though I agree a kid under two, IMO, shouldn’t have to have one).

Thank you, msudawg12 and TMG.

This is the official stance. Unofficially, the ticket ripper might not give a crap.

This is true. I just have a hard time taking that gamble to drive an hour and half personally and possibly get shot in the foot.

The saying I've heard come directly from an MSU athletics employee is:

If a pregnant lady gives birth at halftime, that baby needs a ticket for the second half.

Why should they be free?

My mom makes this same argument and i disagree with her as well.

You bring a baby in and have all of the stuff to go along with a baby, you need a seat. Seems cut and dry to me.

And don't forget the clear bag policy.........

If you bring diapers, wipes, clothes.......ANYTHING for that kid, you better bring it in a clear bag. No other bags will be allowed in and if you parked a mile away, you'll be taking that bag back to the car or tossing it. TRUST ME.......been there and cussed the entire walk back to the car.

Have you ever hung out with a one year old?

Mine will probably want to play with grass, have to be changed a few times, take a nap on me, then be ready to go- in which time someone else will probably move to our seats. You can easily do all of that without a seat, but I digress. I'll buy him a ticket to be sure. I just didn't want to drive 2 hours with a one year old and borrow a ticket that wasn't necessary (which was the bigger issue to me, anyway).

I have two kids that were once 1 year olds and I was much too aware of the consequences of taking them to a ballgame at that age.

Young families are MSU’s future. They should do what they can to encourage those families to be on campus as much as possible. It may not seem like a lot of money, but young families don’t have a lot of money, especially now that having a kid costs about 6K. Also student loans are another huge burden to many families. People in their 20s and 30s are behind the 8ball in a lot of areas that previous generations haven’t had to deal with.

All that to say it is a barrier and it is common practice at a lot of sporting venues to let them in free. Grizzlies and OM allow babies in free.

Good call out. It is a huge pain to get to the gate with a diaper bag.

I’ve been at games around people with one year olds. If I gotta pay to endure that, you gotta pay for the child.

Any by your logic and reason, you shouldn’t have to pay either if you are bringing a 1 year old.

I know tons of young families who wont spare $100 to the bdc yearly and then they ***** when you sell them a ticket vs giving it away.

Spare me.

If paying $20 extra for a GA ticket is the amount of money that brakes you, then you shouldn’t be spending money on baseball tickets in general.
