Since it just rained at your house...

By statewide tornado count for a single event, the 3/17 event ranks at number 6. We added 3 tracks today. This brings us to 20 tornadoes for our forecast area & 24 for the state. We still have a couple areas to look at on Monday, and hopefully that'll be it barring any new info.

Nope, no rain at my house.

Looks like you weather guys are as bad at predicting rain and tornados as you are bad at predicting where I live.

Don't bother DCD. He lives on the secret island of ******** with Fighting Irish and a few others posters...

How about a roll call on who we know is on that special island?

Things I like to ask folks like Mobile in situations like these:

1) Can you explain why the forecast didn't pan out like predicted? (I know this answer but want to know if you can actually explain the physics behind it)

2) Why did models not pick up on this?

3) What could tv meteorologists who use said models have done more to your liking?

I've never understood why the public doesn't understand more about days like that day. We had a ton of tornadoes that day. But certain things happened that weren't really expected that ultimately prevented the threat of long track supercells from being realized.

And we are mad about that? I'm glad I got out of weather and into education where we are appreciated more....

1) Because all models are wrong, some are useful.

2) Because all models are wrong

3) Not act like the whole world is coming to an end. Not dominate the news cycle with predictions of the apocalypse.

So it’s better for them to just ignore it and have everyone not even somewhat be prepared or paying attention? Great idea

Ok. My modified offer, I'll come to knock down your house sometime without notice so it doesn't " Dominate the news cycle"

I'll have to use something quiet so you dont wake up, you know, so it doesn't dominate the news cycle. I'll probably put an ad in the classifieds. or post it in the courthouse basement. It's your fault you didn't see it.

I was wrong, I misread the total in Alabama.

Most folks who think like Mobile have never actually seen a major tornado in person. When you see one with your own eyes outdoors, get hit by debris, see the aftermath of the damage, or have to help someone clean up from it, it changes you and the perception of how you view things like weather coverage and forecasting.

I don't believe I've ever encountered a person who had experienced those things and later thought that meteorologists over sensationalize events like what was expected last week just because we didn't have death and destruction to some "acceptable scale" to deem it warranted.

Right?

Yeah no one did that. The folks who knew what the hell was going on reported that this was a potentially deadly situation and that people needed to make sure they had plans. And it was very dangerous.

You can use "models all suck" and complete over exaggeration as a defense for your ignorance in not knowing how any of this works. Most people use that defense technique and I get it. It's hard not having the knowledge to understand what's going on and needing hyperbole to defend your bias.

I would ask you to educate yourself on what actually was going on and try looking at it from the perspective of the professionals who have to use your so called garbage models to do their job and protect people.

From your response, it's obvious you've never had to deal with the ramifications of a major tornado. The destruction, the power. I challenge you to go chase one like I have, then go to the town it destroys and help clean up. It will change your perspective.
