Was he fired for allegedly kissing a student at LSU or just sucking at coaching football at Kansas?

Our AD did a pretty good job of avoiding Miles and hiring Leach. I never liked Miles as a coach. He road the Saban recruiting system to a National Championship at LSU.

He’s also the winningest coach

In LSU history. And was there long enough to take credit for that himself. I’m also glad he’s not our coach, but he did a great job at LSU.

With the talent they have access to and the alumni Network they have, any year of not making the playoff at LSU is under achieving... two years of not making the playoff at LSU should get you fired.

Well since no one before him or after him has won that way I guess you MAY be right.

Would Saban have done what you say? Sure but there can be only one.

He won the NC in his 3rd year which means he had some Saban players but also a lot of his own. He went to the NC game in his 7th year too...was that still riding the 'Saban recruiting system'?

Agreed, but he was pretty lacking when it came to QB recruiting. That held him down after Saban's guys left (Russell and Flynn). If he'd had any semblance of QB play, that 2011 LSU team would be the greatest of all time.

Yeah. It's foolish to deny that Miles was a great coach in his prime. By the end the game had passed him by and I definitely didn't want him when Mullen left. But in his day, he was one of the best coaches the SEC has seen.

Prediction: The NCAA will give LSU a slap on the wrist. It will be followed by twitter rage, then the NCAA will reevaluate and give LSU a second slap on the wrist.

I think they learned that he failed to land an in-state recruit that just signed a $160 million NFL contract.

Weak point. Dak wasn't even a top 500 recruit and when LSU was interested in him, it was for TE since he hadn't yet put up strong numbers as a senior. He then committed to MSU and I believe we were the only major program that wanted him as a QB.

Basically no other teams thought he would develop into what he did.

LSU is still riding the booster recruiting system. That is why they are one of just a few that compete with Alabama.

So what you are claiming is that an illegal recruiting system was created and implemented at LSU in 2000 by Saban and it continues today?
It didnt exist when LSU was great in the 60s, it didnt exist when LSU was great in the 80s, it didnt exist when LSU was great in the 90s- it was created and continues because of Saban 20 years ago and Miles used it to get to the NC game twice?

Well since such a theory is totally disprovable, I guess you have a point.**

He will have to work his way up the ladder there first. Butch Jones was washing Saban's car when he was hired away by ASU

It irks me when people cannot look beyond the surface of something, such as this.

1) Dak doesn't become what he was without Danny's coaching and having to work as hard as he did, developing leadership skills, etc, at a school like MSU with subpar talent around him.
2) LSU could have signed a bevy of other QBs, that all probably could have been more serviceable than who they signed.

Did you read my post? I specifically called out saban as being better.

News flash, saban is the best right now and probably ever.

LSU paid players before Saban. Alabama paid players before Saban. What is your point? Saban just stepped it up a notch. Or are you one of the fans that believes college football is as clean as the driven snow? Bear Bryant gave Logan Young a list of players he wanted. It's been going on for years. Saban has just perfected it.

Correct, boosters won't support a coach that doesn't get them in the playoffs. The money Alabama, LSU, Georgia, Tennessee and Florida boosters are committing to talent means perform or get out.

You dismiss what Miles accomplished and claim its all due to Saban who was gone for many years. I take issue with your reasoning for why Miles doesnt deserve credit. Its a completely unprovable claim- that he only had success because Saban increased payments to recruits over a decade earlier. Like...what? Thats so 17ing absurd.
Football in 2000(when Saban came to LSU) vs football in 2011(When Miles led LSU to the NC game) was considerably different.

Serious question- at what point does a coach ever win on their own after following a successful coach? Using your logic, it seems like they never win on their own. They can have their own offense and defense structures, they can have their own coaching staff, they can have their own recruits who were at oldest 10 when Saban started at LSU, but apparently that success isnt due to Miles.
Dumb.

Jeff Long out as AD according to Brett McMurphy...

Jeff Long is out as Kansas’ athletic director, sources told @Stadium. On Monday, football coach Les Miles & KU “mutually agreed” to part ways. Long hired Miles in 2018— Brett McMurphy (@Brett_McMurphy) March 10, 2021

Is the AD leaving because Miles allegedly kissed a student and facebook friended other students at different school 6 or so years before being hired at KU?

The AD cant possibly be fired due to the football team's performance- they have been total trash for years now.
Maybe its the Miles incident plus KU basketball being outright cheaters and the serious violations coming their way? Lack of institutional control and whatnot.

I am fat and can yell expletives. I think I might be their best option as the next coach.

That's saying something considering there are a lot of expletive-spewing fat people on SPS.
