Our hitting approach is awful.

We can’t even get a walk out of the 8 and 9 holes.

No idea what we are doing about that. Was happy to see Cumbest up after McGowan stranded runners at second and third with a K but then Cumbest proceeds to wave at 3 pitches that couldn’t have been over 70 mph and leave the bases loaded.

We did a good job working the count against their starter and getting him out of the game early, but the lefty they brought in had us looking silly that inning. Although to be fair they have thrown two of their projected starters for the weekend and we are halfway through this game, so you would think that's a good sign for the rest of the weekend.

It’s Kent State. Their starters shouldn’t have us looking for walks.

On the bright side, Rowdy has upped his average to .195 tonight.

We are also swinging at pitches that are 5-7 mph than our lowest pitching throws. Timing isn’t great from what we see at practice. Just my thoughts

It's the FIRST weekend in March. If this was half way through SEC schedule, you would have a point.

MLB has Spring Games, we have Feb and March.

I’ve seen Coach JG talk about how he likes his players to fail on their own early in the season because it’s easier to show them the correct way.

I’ll say there are a lot of examples of hitters getting better as the season goes on since JG has been here.

We have started slow offensively every year he has been here, but we have always been absolutely lethal by the time April/May comes around too. Not concerned about scoring runs at all. We have the talent, experience, and JG/Lemonis know what they’re doing.

We need to be a more consistent defensive team and settle the rotation, then we’ll be rolling.

"Hitting approach". The fans new buzzword for the Internet

Haha I know. Really have no idea what it means. Pretty sure our “hitting approach” is to swing at strikes and not balls. Same as every other team. Baseball is not complicated. No matter what level, it’s see ball hit ball

Let me explain. Our recognition of balls vs strikes, hittable pitches vs non-hittable pitches sucks right now. Hopefully, it will improve.
