Tate Reeves took a whole year to end the mask mandate.Don't applaud him for this. He doesn't deserve your gratitude for stealing your rights and handing some of them back to you.

The finish line is in sight and variants are on the rise.

This is a terrible time to lift restrictions. Masks are the least we could do. Things will get worse because of dipshit governors like Tater and Abbott.

Easing up on outdoor gatherings is the correct starting point, not this.

When specifically will it be the right time?

Agree. I would have waited for more vaccinations before doing much. Perhaps early May....not now.

Living in a community has its upside and downside.

Its pretty great to see Missippi has joined my state as being mask free in the Gov's eyes. Its been almost 4 weeks since the mask mandate was lifted here and 99.5% of people in stores still wear them. Most of the large retail stores Ive been to still require masks too. Its an interesting limbo we are in.

Governors want the PR to look good for their base.

I hope that most businesses continue to follow experts over politicians.

You should be able to soak up those tears with one of your Trump flags. They can still be useful.

Or you could actually learn to take responsibility for your own health and your own business instead of making the government do it for you.

I’m old enough to remember way back in..

...March of 2020 when we were told everything had to shut down to protect the elderly and at-risk population.

Now that those people have been vaccinated we are supposed to keep it shut down until everyone is vaccinated.

Meanwhile... stimmie checks fo er’body!

In 90 days, there will be another excuse or moving of the goal posts. Someone has to put an end to the madness. I wore my mask and followed protocols. Guess what? I still got Covid. I was lucky and only felt crummy for a couple of days. I now am almost a month out from both rounds of Moderna vaccine. I have done everything that I have been told, and I still was not spared the disease. I want my life back and am glad to see a step in the right direction.

Which shouldn't be more than about 90 days out.

Haven't you heard? Variants! The vaccine isn't 100% effective! We won't be back to normal until summer of 2022!

So yeah, "90 days out" is ********.

Eventually the goal posts have to stop moving, and today seems to be a big step in that direction, at least in this state.

Ooh! I love that image. I agree with it. So let's talk about abortion. Or welfare. Or any other left-wing agenda item.

Oh, that only applies to covid restrictions? That's what I thought.

Be thankful he's finally doing the right thing where so many other governors are continuing and, in some cases, escalating the unnecessary BS.

He certainly didn't perform great, but he performed better than average. Hard to bash him too much. Who do you see that is anywhere or has been anywhere near the governors mansion that you think would have done less damage?

Its almost as if this was a novel virus and experts were learning as they went, so advice changed as more info came in.
I remember back in March when Trump declared anyone can get a covid test. Oh, and that the virus would magically go away with the sun.

I do agree with you that the goals seem to have changed a couple times now. But I cant sit here and think that comments and advice at the start of a novel pandemic should be written in stone and followed without regard to more information that comes in.
Like I posted earlier, my state had a mask mandate for 2 months and it ended almost a month ago. Numbers have steadily declined. Many businesses continue to require masks. 'Opening up' seems to be working relatively well so far.

What? Did you just argue for me and then stomp the argument? Someone should name a logical fallacy for such a practice.
If you want to start a discussion on abortion, create a new thread and see how long it stays open. I will likely not disagree with most here, for the record.

I guess we are now pushing zero COVID as no one has yet given me the “number” as when it is safe to take off the masks and open up. In the mean time the roads are 100% open. It is almost like car crashes don’t exist.

But in all seriousness....

Private businesses and local gov'ts can still enforce their own mandates, and I fully expect them to do so. Especially national chain places like Walmart, Costco, etc. I'm more than ok with a private business still requiring it rather than increased gov't mandates..... semantics and all.

I was also thinking May— possibly mid-April.

On the flip side... this may cause more people like me, who don't fit any pre-existing conditions and who weren't necessarily giddy to get the vaccine, to get it sooner. Effectiveness (or lack thereof) of masks aside, they did have somewhat of a feel-good placebo effect while wearing them. Now that I see more people without them, I may just be more inclined to get the vaccine sooner.

It's too early for unmasking. Opening businesses is fine, but wait until everybody has access to the vaccines before removing masks.

I'm the furtherest thing from a Trump supporter on this board, friend.

These lockdowns have been devastating and I believe, unconstitutional.

Gonna save this meme for the next time gov't-funded abortions becomes a hot topic.**

You know it's kind of funny. When people tell me to wear a mask I say, "It's my body so it's my choice." For some reason that argument doesn't hold water with them. Weird huh?
