1. Still not sold on getting a ton of offense from 3B and LF. 2. Pitching staff.

The sheer number of guys we can run out there and get the job done is pretty amazing. I can't imagine being Foxhall right now trying to get innings out of so many options. Good problem to have though. 3. Impressed by the way this team doesn't quit. Talent's one thing but bouncing back when things go the wrong way shows we've got some moxie and will fight to the last out. Or in yesterday's case, the last strike.

This is the thing I've been impressed with too. We saw a flash of this in the ninth vs TCU that came very close to a walk-off. So far I'd say you don't want to be within a run or two of this bunch going into the last inning.

All of these are concerns for sure but I'd have to put hitting in general as my biggest concern.

Unfortunately I have to believe that this is here to stay. Maybe time to insert Sims into the weekend rotation and relegate Cerantola to mid-week starter where we can better absorb 7 or 8 walks and HBP in a game.

1. SP (do we have a starter with a W yet?)
2. Bullpen (so many options. When roles start getting more defined it will get even better)
3. Landon Sims

2. patience at the plate...ie giving opposing starters too many sub 10 pitch innings
3. Having enough innings to keep pitchers sharp.

1. Defense. Only major category we’ve underperformed our competition: fielding %.
2. Pitching depth. We gave up only 2 ERs in our two losses. We’ve pitched well enough to be 7-0.
3. Competing through the final pitch. In addition to two walk off wins, in our two losses we scored in the ninth and had 2 runners on. We’ve gone into our final at bat down four times. We put the pressure on the other team all four times and won two of them. Put the pressure on and good things happen.

but we must have a fireman/closer(s) to excel.

I disagree. I mean you are right if that is going to be Lemo's mentality. But I would go with a closer by committee or situational approach.

For example, if we can get 6 from MacLeod on Friday nights then let Sims pitch 3. On a Sat maybe let Brandon Smith pitch the last 2 or 3. On a Sunday maybe it's Koestler. That's the approach I would take.

1. Pitching, defense, and right handed batting
2. Left handed opponents
3. Team attitude

The number one things that have helped us win titles are pitching and defense.

We have a ton of lefty batters

They never let Tulane's mouths get the best of them. I really think that series is going to pay many positive dividends down the road. Tulane is a solid team I hope we don't draw them in the playoffs.

I'm always concerned about healthy pitching. If the pitching stays healthy it's going to be a great year. If not... That idiot Fighting Irish is going to be prancing around like a banty rooster all season.

Does healthy pitching even matter this year? Sims is the only guy I consider irreplaceable.

We have put 19 pitches on the mound this year—-I think we have pitching . One of our top 3 pitchers hasn’t even pitched yet and our Canadian Ace will be ok.

Think a lot of people aren't getting or understanding that everyone is going to have depth on the mound and quality depth. The way our 3 weekend starters performed this weekend. None of them being able to dominate or get past the 5th inning is a big cause for concern to me. If that doesn't get better, not going to have the season we want.

Well that isn't always the starting pitchers fault.....

1. SP (do we have a starter with a W yet?)

You gotta get him some early run support. But to your point there is some concern for our starters getting bounced pretty early.

Sheesh, lighten up francis. Nobody is dogging the team we are analyzing and discussing strengths and weaknesses....on a message board....which is one of the things you do on a message board.

Agreed. If the great majority of college baseball seasons are apples, 2021 is the sole orange.

Most every team has better depth than they had in previous years-- and I doubt that depth will be maintained in the next few years across the board.
