To go 2-1 against this level of competition with 2 of our top 3 starters on the shelf is an outstanding start to the season.

Couldn’t agree more. With 2 of your 3 weekend guys out, I’d have been thrilled with 2-1 even against mediocre competition, and I’m pretty sure that these Texas teams were anything but mediocre.

I’m also cautiously optimistic about our hitting which was the big question mark for me heading into the season. Some of our younger guys showed some real promise

Lemonis said in the post game 5 of our Top 12 pitchers weren't on the trip to Arlington

We look like a really really good team. But this year may be as good as the SEC has ever been. That is my only fear in all of this. I’m expecting Omaha to be at least 3 from the SEC and maybe as many as 5 teams. If I had to guess, I bet there are 4 there. There are going to be some really good teams that go 13-17 or 14-16 in-conference this year.

I'm happy, BUT, I'm concerned that we walked a bunch of batters, hit another bunch, and had too many wild pitches and passed balls. For a weekend opening tournament it's 2 good wins though

So is that Stinnet, Rokose, Simmons, Forrester and Cerantola? Just thinking about who we didnt see.

That could definitely be killer, but I'm not going to be worried about that showing up in the first weekend after having a shortened season last year.

Was the Big12 strikezone as variable and incongruent on television as it was in person?

We gave up some walks today, but we have to have one of the strongest pitching staffs in the country. Hit pretty well up and down the lineup too. Definitely looking like a team that'll keep it's Twitter comments open

I agree. People that don’t follow it closely won’t realize it, but even though you were the only SEC team to lose, you may have had the best showing, in my opinion.

Big picture, I truly think the 3 SEC teams in that tournament, plus Florida and Vandy, may be the best 5 teams in the country. And I’m not being hyperbolic.

How good is LSU supposed to be this year?

I really don’t know. They’re LSU, they’ll always be talented, but I don’t think they’re at either of our levels. But, SEC baseball is always hard to predict.

I know they’ve got a starter (Jaden Hill, I believe?) that projects as a Top 15-20 pick, but I thinks it mostly on traits and not production. I suppose he’s capable of shutting anyone down on a given night.
