Power went out last night and was still out this morning. Ms NT got on her phone and found a Generac 1700 at the Madison Ace Hardware for $550 to run our refrigerator, wifi, keep cell phones charged and a couple of other small things . I went to pick it up and it wasn't in stock like it said on online. However, they had one Generac 3000i for $900. I got it but I didn't get out of the store before we got our power back. Question is the a Generac 3000i worth keeping for $900 or should I take it back?

Thanks

Also seems a little high to me. I would think 450-500 for that one. I’d at least keep it till Friday.

My honest opinion is to take it back. I know Generac makes good home backup stuff and are well known throughout. But I'm permanently scarred by the one year Golf Cannel/Safari/Filmwerx used generac2000s them to run scoreboards and shotlink for Sanderson Farms. They always run Honda 2000i's with hour meters often with 2000-3000 hours on them. Probably average 30-40 generators per tournament and as long as they keep fuel in them, the Hondas chooch with no smoke or strange noises. They aren't dead or useless when they get done with them, they just cycle em out of service due to the importance of the individual jobs they do. The generac 2000s they ran that one year were a f'n nightmare. Smoking, rattling, dying, losing prime, fouling plugs, etc. Had the filmwerx head about ready to quit. 5 or 6 of them taken apart trying to cobble something together to meet their quota out on course. It was probably an extreme circumstance that isn't a fair assessment, but it scarred me to them nonetheless. Especially when they are more expensive than the yamaha-motored knock offs at northern tools, as well as the Wens and Predators which are pretty good equipment...

I have a Generac ix2000

It died after about two years, been setting in storage , maybe six years, I guess waiting for it to self resurrect.

When I took it be repaired, indication, was that you could buy a new one for less.

Generac in small inverter generators is on my **** list. (and I got no help from Generac)

That's my experience anyway.

Seems to be super common on those, at least in the for sale ads I see. Crank and run perfectly with a dead inverter board....
