In our offense. We look way more smooth with him on the floor. The kid is going to be a heck of a player I think. Especially considering nobody really even knew who he was most of the season.

Yeah, it’s good to see. I love the defense and hustle of Matthews, but he’s so atrocious on offense that we can’t afford him playing a lot with our already very limited offensive ability.

At the same time, we’re 1-2 since bringing Fountain into the fold with double digit losses to pretty average teams. Is Fountain an upgrade over Johnson? 100%. But I think it’s fair to question if we aren’t losing on defense what we gain on offense by playing Fountain instead of Matthews and Davis

Quarantined / covid? Not sure... that was my assumption, but I haven't paid close enough attention to whether he's just on the bench or not there at all.

Whatever the reason, I like Fountain better.

Fountain has been good on offense. And he has made good individual plays on D too. I did see he would bite on the LSU drive to help out and therefore leave the perimeter shooter open. This happened multiple times. Its tough to blame him as its what you do when guards are quick and capable of collapsing the D, but even still- his late help D really didnt do much to stop the drive and it just left a shooter open.

Johnson is...yeah he is OK I guess? It was good to get him as a transfer to help right away since he has experience, I can say that for sure. His handle is not great and he doesnt create well for himself or others so he is pretty limited on the offensive side. His D doesnt stand out as great or terrible.

Matthews hustles and hustling is a skill, so that needs to be recognized. But damn he is a liability on offense. He is basically just a smaller Ado- gets points off putbacks and broken drives. He plays hard, which is neat to see.

Davis is just straight up limited on offense. Multiple times over the last couple games he has gotten the ball at the elbow due to being in a soft part of the zone, and he pivots a bunch before hot potatoing the ball back out to a guard. 17ing shoot it- its a free throw basically. Or drive. Or pass to Ado/Smith down low(preferable Smith). Although at 35% shooting and 38% from the line, that open elbow shot isnt taken for good reason.

Yeah Matthews literally brings nothing to the table offensively. He's worse than Ado if that is possible. We need tough defenders but cannot have two players on the floor that can be virtually ignored by the other team when we have the rock.

Matthews is way more coordinated than Ado though. He can work on his shot this off-season and gain offensive ability. I feel like that’s possible with him. Think he’s going to be a way better offensive player than Ado

Even though he’s a freshman, he’s a dinosaur with where the game is headed. There are not enough hours in the day for that kid to develop a shot.

I feel good about Matthews because he showed game sense and hustle on D before he caught a case of the Mississippi kid freshmens.

What does this even mean? The guy hustles and defends well, especially for a freshman. His offensive game doesn’t look totally un fixable. Looks like he could be a force inside. As for his shooting, his shot isn’t awkward or anything. I don’t know why it doesn’t fall? Maybe he can tweak it a bit, and just shoot more reps in a proper off season. I’m not saying he’s going to be a dominate force on offense. I do believe he can get a lot better tho.

He sucks... NEVER follows his brick shots & is slow as can be on defense... He ain't an SEC caliber player... Not that our team has many of those anyway.. Another WASTED scholly because we can't recruit...

it means I think he’s an excellent candidate for the transfer portal in a year or two.
