Brady becomes available, they go out and get him.
Gronk unretires, they go out and get him.
Fournette surprisingly becomes available right before opening week, they go and get him.
Antonio Brown comes off a slew of off field drama and an 8-game suspension, they go and get him.
They resign an aging Jason Pierre Paul to a 2-year extension.

All those guys except Fournette are over 30 and had huge concerns due to either age or being a massive head case, or both. But that organization put their nuts on the table, went out and got them together, and made it work. Every one of those guys was very instrumental in that title run.

Antonio Brown

I think it was genius to bring him back in a Brady led offense. They knew he was probably going to be on his best behavior in that situation. Also, it doesn't hurt that there won't be anymore drama in his civil case until December 2021 thanks to covid.

Brady earned $2.25M in the playoffs...

1. $500K for making the playoffs
2. $250K for winning a playoff game.
3. $500K for making the conference title game
4. $500k for winning the conference title game
5. $500k for winning the Super Bowl

Worth every dime.

The thing nobody is really talking about is that Tampa already had a good roster even before they signed Brady. Literally the only reason they struggled last year was because Jameis threw 30 interceptions. They've been good at the skill positions and on defense for a couple of years now. Just needed an upgrade at the QB position.

If I’m TB front office, I’m enjoying the big win vibes while looking for the opportunity to jettison Brown like a dispensable plot character ala GoT.

Why don't all sports contracts base the amount of pay on whether games are won?

Players that win are paid more than players that lose . . . that makes sense to me.

Why? He's a guaranteed half dozen or more TDs a season being the 5th option for that offense. He's probably the best value in the league right now at that position with a $1.7 mill contract and he's clearly well received by his teammates. Even Arians has changed his tune 180 on AB since preseason when he said there's zero chance they'd sign him.

Because agents won't usually allow it that way.

Cricket players are kind of paid like this, Jockey's as well. Paid a base salary and all bonuses come from wins, wickets, whatever else they call it.

Because the NFL is in the entertainment biz. Wins and losses don't matter all that much. Maybe to the players, but not the organizations or the NFL.

Because Brown is a known quantity and has significant known baggage, and Tampa Bay still has Evans and Godwin to throw the ball to. Brown helped, but Tampa didn't need him to win it, and they don't need him to win it again.
