Definitely. I went into the one in Madison over the weekend with the intent on buying one just for the hell of it. They didn't have inventory, but I spent $100 on random crap. They are getting my limited video game experience for life.

If they take the Madden engine and just put college teams in, I'll be pissed. I'd be 100% happy if they took the old game, updated the graphics and rosters, and left the rest as is.

So what were the best NCAA video game years and the best Madden years in the view of SPSers who played them. I'm A BIT on the old side, but I played a few versions back in the day. I know my favorite Maddens were in the early 2000s when you could create your own teams. The NCAA game seemed to be similar year in and year out.

NCAA ‘03 with Harrington on the cover was the one for me. My gosh, there’s no telling how many hundreds of hours were spent on thing while drinking, eating pizza, and ruining friendships

Madden ‘04 and ‘05 were my favorites of those games, NCAA 14 and NCAA 12 were excellent in terms of their most recent releases. NCAA 06 is an all time great too.

I always enjoyed the NCAA games more just because there was more you could do. Over 100 teams to play with and against versus just 32 in Madden. The NCAA games also did a good job of making trophy collecting a fun thing. I would try to win every conference title and as many bowl games as I could, and all of the individual awards too. I did a dynasty one time where I kicked a field goal on every drive just so my kicker would win the Groza award, LOL.

I’m not exactly sure what year it was but somewhere around 2012 the running game got almost impossible to really get going. They changed the pitch button and speed burst configurations and you had very few breakaways. I guess they were prognosticators on that. It did make you more aware of coverages though. I relied on my audibles a lot more depending on how the safeties were playing. I did like the facts that picks were more prevalent on 50/50 balls. In the earlier games if you switched to the DB and jumped on a ball it felt like you had a 20% chance of picking it off. The recruiting just got better and better though.

I think ‘08 was the last one I played. Pretty sure I just ran the option with Tebow and Harvin. I was good, unless I was playing my roommate. He beat me every time.
