So why aren't all of their games considered losses (forfeits)? They are still listed in standings as 0-3 in SEC while Auburn is 0-8. They should get losses for all of these games and the teams they played should get wins. Gonna cause headaches down the road.

Vandy’s whole athletic year has been an embarrassment. 0-9 in football, men’s basketball started 0-6 in the SEC before they finally got a win on Saturday, and the women’s basketball team started 0-3 and quit the season. Beginning to wonder if they have just stopped giving a **** when it comes to sports.

I'll bet baseball won't be shut down. The one sport they excel in.

Maybe Vandy is creating some additional time for these women to get back in the kitchen where they belong and work on their cooking skills?

(Sorry. Couldn't resist. I tried. I really did.)

I'm betting they don't cancel the sport where they have 3 times the amount of scholarship players as their competition.

Can we make this possible? They’ve already killed my hopes. Let’s put a stop to it before they actually kill an innocent person.***

The should go ahead and cancel it too. Think of the children!!! How irresponsible would it be to force the boys to play and spectators to show up possibly infecting just ONE person? How much fun is one life worth??????????

I feel like is because they suck. Plus women’s sports don’t generate the same big money men’s sports do.

The players are still presumably on scholarship, which at Vanderbilt is a lot of money even for just 12 or 13 players.

According to athletics director Candice Lee and coach Stephanie White, the decision was driven by the players. Only half of the 14 players were available to play in the Commodores' final game, an 80-73 loss at Kentucky on Sunday.

[FONT=&quot]Starting point guard Jordyn Cambridge, South Florida transfer Enna Pehadzic and sophomore Kaylon Smith are out with injuries. Starters Brinae Alexander and Autumn Newby as well as sophomore Kiara Pearl opted out of the season.
And sophomore Demi Washington announced she would miss the season after being diagnosed with myocarditis, an inflammation of the heart muscle, following a COVID-19 infection.

[FONT=&quot]Six games either had been canceled or postponed because of COVID-19...

- Over 40% of their games have been postponed/cancelled.
- Players drove this decison.
- 7 players are available with one coming off an ACL injury.

Thought some facts and background might help this discussion since so far the thread is a bunch of 'they sucked so its to save money' and 'covid isnt an issue anymore' talk.

Perhaps I am overly sensitive to “Covid isn’t an issue anymore” talk, and I preface this remark with assurances I am working to rid myself of anger. That said, I believe many underestimate the virus and what it can do to a family or a team for that matter. Until one has experienced the horrific consequences first hand I guess they should get a pass from folks like me. All I will say is our Christmas Eve 2020 was beyond horrific. So, from my perspective, I can see there could be circumstances that prevent a team from finishing its season.
