My 14 year old has outgrown his 20 gauge. Looking for a Remington 870 super mag. Preferably wood stock or camo. Not interested in synthetic. Surely there is some one that has one laying around that is not getting much use. We like that brand and caliber. PM me if you have anything that might work. Thanks.

Just make sure to get one made prior to Remington being bought by Freedom Group. After that the Remington name is trash.

And no, I am not selling you mine.

If you can’t find one I’d recommend a Benelli Nova. The thing is damn near indestructible and won’t break the bank. I’ve been dove/duck/pheasant hunting with mine for almost 20 years and it’s like the day I got it.

I've been out of the game for a while. Do you know if the ATA or Yildiz guns are any good? I was out shooting dove hunters with the then cheap Mossberg pump while they had Brownings, Benelis and such.

I’ve been around some ATAs. The pump is good but the guy that had the semiauto kept having trouble with it.

The ATA pump is a clone of the 870. Pretty good gun for the money. I second the recommendations for the Benelli Nova. It’s heads above a 870 Express or any recent manufacturer 870. The original Wingmaster was as good of a gun you could buy but Remington has been going downhill for a while.

I’ve got one made in 96, and it’s a turkey thumper. Sorry I’m not selling it, but it’s a great gun. Patterns best with 3 inch shells. Kicks like a mule.

I found a 70s model 12 ga Wingmaster at a gun show a few years ago. One hundred sixty American dollars. You can still see the pattern on the the stock but if you run your fingers over it, it's completely smooth. I'd love to know how many shells have been through that thing in 50 years.

Desoto you must like getting jarred. I’ve worn out a few 870’s and had one Nova. The 870’s kick like a horse with heavy loads but that Nova kicked like mad mule. Gave me a headache. Finally got rid of it. Also rattled like a tin can when I walked with it.

MobileBayGoat was right on this one.

Get and older one if you’re lucky enough to find one for sale. Family member bought one new a few years ago. POS. Lots of slop. Very lose tolerances. Jammed easily. My 40 year old 870 Wingmaster with over a thousand shell tally is tighter. I shot circles around him on the clays.

I wouldn’t buy an ATA. It’s made very poorly. I also agree with Mobile on the Remington. Once Freedom group bought them the quality went way down. And now that they went under you have zero warranty on a Remington now.

I would either get the Benelli Nova or the Stoeger 3500 for a pump. But honestly bang for the buck those mossberg all purpose 88s work just fine for a lot of things. I like the old rem 870 and mossberg 88. In the cheaper ranger. But those stoegers are a good step up. Mossberg 500s are also well made.
