Your teams needs a QB...do you call Andrew Luck?

Knowing what you have to give up and how much longer they have to play, how would you rank the QBs potentially hitting the market?

Watson is likely going to take Hershel Walker type deal to get, but someone will bite.
Ay-Ay-Ron could be a good deal, but he's 37.
Luck would be rusty and is 31.
Stafford could be the best "deal" since he may not require a mint to acquire and he's some tread left on the tires.
Dak would likely command a big haul to get and 17 Jerruh. Dak deserves better.
Newton...hard pass.

As a Niners fan, Stafford intrigues me because he does still have a few years left in him, and his deal over the next 2 years is very team friendly. However, he has a lot of the same injury concerns as Jimmy G, and his stats in recent years frankly aren’t that much better. I’d take him for G and maybe a 3rd or 2nd round pick, but forget the 1st.

Obviously, Watson or Dak would be great, but like you said... their teams aren’t giving them up for peanuts. Dak is the interesting one to me, though. Dallas has major cap problems that they simply can’t get out of due to so many heavy cap hits on the offensive side of the ball. Then, if you just tag Dak again this year, not only can they not go get help on defense, but they’d have to clear $15-20M. To me, they simply have to decide whether to sign him to a long term deal or else move him. For the right price, I’d take him in San Fran in a heartbeat

I'm a Niners fan as well. I'd love to get Rodgers for a couple years if the price is right. Rumor is the Packers would do him a solid and trade him to the team he wishes. He is a California guy, so there's a chance. Also, I think Luck would listen since he's familiar with the area being a Stanford grad. I think Dak in Shanahan's offense would be fire.

Yep, truth be told, I'd take pretty much any of them aside from Cam rather than praying that Jimmy G doesn't once again get injured by week 3. But it's got to be at a fair price, and I have a bad feeling that basically all these teams are asking for way more than reasonable value for their QBs.

The 49ers have a couple of older guys, but their core of guys like Kittle, Deebo, Aiyuk, Warner, Bosa, and quite a few others is actually very young, so there's just no need to mortgage the entire future for a guy that may have a year or two left. One way or another, it'll be interesting to see how all these dominoes fall. My bet is that the majority of names we're hearing end up staying put

Wouldn’t be shocked to see Watson go at somewhat of a discount compared to what the Texans should receive for him. I still think whoever gets him will have to give up a lot but Watson having the no trade clause essentially allows him to pick his team.

I guess the Texans could refuse to trade him but I don’t see that happening.

Not sure how expensive Dak will be as far as trading to get him. The Cowboys can't even afford to tag him unless they restructure or drop some guys. Cowboys could very well draft a QB in the first and let Dak walk.

As a somewhat Titans fan, would be cool if we worked out a Tannehill/Watson trade.

Don’t think that’s much of a possibility, but a nice thought.

So I did read an interesting article that said Dak could end up with the Patriots or Colts. Both have a lot of cap space and need a QB.

Cowboys could tag him and trade him for maybe 2nd or 3rd round pick, that is my thinking not from the article.

I've heard several "insiders" floating the Dak/NE talk out there as well.

I haven’t looked at Rodgers contract but I know the backend of Watsons contract is massive. I would be fine with Rodgers or Stafford. All of those guys throw the deep ball much better than Jimmy G does.

I think it's possible that Luck gets the itch aGAIN, but I'd be wary with his concussion history.

Stafford and the Colts are a match made in heaven.

I've heard a lot of chatter about Watson going to the Jets.

I think Dallas and Dak will get something done, although I agree with you that Dak deserves better.

You can put a fork in Cam. He's done.

It will be an interesting off season for sure.

Dak will demand a minimum of $45M if he's moved. If he stays, Dallas is looking at over $50M next year. Dak just signed a deal with Anhueser-Busch. That flies in the face of Jerry Jones. I won't be surprised with anything in Dallas.

I think Saleh is overrated. With all that DL talent, it's hard to be bad. He NEVER ran multiple schemes. He only knows 1 defense and rarely made adjustments.

My gut prediction:

Watson ends up with the Dolphins in exchange for Tua and picks. It seems like Miami or NYJ have the most to offer and the Dolphins are in by far the better position to be a contender quickly.

Stafford ends up Indianapolis, which would be a great fit for both.

The Falcons draft a QB at the No. 4 pick and trade Matt Ryan to Washington, who is a QB away from being pretty darn good.

Patriots draft a QB at 15.

Dak and Rodgers stay put one more year.

Saints give Jameis a one year test run as the starter, but draft a QB in the first three rounds. Need to see who they lose in free agency first, but I could see them making a trade to offload cap space and move up in the draft for a QB. Maybe that makes somebody like Trey Lance an option? If not Lance or anybody else in the first round, you're probably looking at guys like Jones, Trask, or Ehlinger as your QB options on Day 2.

Its pretty much 100% impossible for Dallas to trade Dak without signing him to a long term deal first. If Dallas tags him, no team is trading anything for the right to have only one year of team control of Dak. If they don’t tag him, he’s a free agent. It’s theoretically possible to do a sign-and-trade, but that would only fly if Dak essentially got to pick his next destination and deal. That’s pretty hard to navigate if you’re Dallas and you want to get any sort of return on the trade.
