OT: Happy Birthday

[Jeffreauxdawg]

Dolly Parton is 75 today and the world's most famous twins are probably around 45-50. You are either to young or lying if Dolly didn't occupy a lock box in your bank.

Either way, Dolly funding a portion of the Moderna vaccine research cements her legacy in my book. National Treasure.

She's truly a national treasure as far as I'm concerned. Always loved Ms Dolly.

I was too young but she is pretty incredible. This is a charity that she supports:

The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas was outstanding, and Dolly was outstanding.

Dolly Parton back in the day was a straight dime piece.

As Johnny Carson so famously said one night when she was a guest on his show: "I'd give about a year's pay to look down the front of that dress."

Happy Birthday.

9 to 5 was a hoot.

[RocketDawg]

He'd be fired and forced to apologize nowadays.

[patdog]

What a beautiful, talented, unpretentious and classy woman.

[Digging dog]

She has little feet*****

[horshack.sixpack]

My favorite (approximate)quote of hers: "I'm not insulted by dumb blonde jokes because I know I'm not dumb and I know I'm not blonde!"

[ClintonInHelen]

I’d hit it...

[wsjmsu75]

I’d hit it...

Is there anything you wouldn't hit? Just asking for a friend.

I’d hit it...

Been waiting on you. Thread complete.

Think most would here

She has little feet*****

And her elbows are too pointy***

[Crazy Cotton]

They should let her handle vaccine distribution as well. Her organization figured out how to get 2 million books a month out to kids.

[o_Hot Rock]

She would not give up her song rights. Elvis wanted to do a cover of "I will always love You" back in the day. She refused to give up her rights to the royalties on her songs. So, Good Ole" Colonel Tom Parker would not let Elvis do it without those rights. Whitney Houston later did the cover and it took off more than even Elvis could have done and she still had the rights. Dolly did it right but she did cry over the Elvis dispute. She hated that she could not let him record it.

She is gorgeous, very business savvy, good actor, great performer, even better writer and pretty much as nice a person as any of us dare to be in that dog eat dog world of entertainment.

To make it current and relevant, I would bet yes:

The darkness won’t exactly work here.

As Johnny Carson so famously said one night when she was a guest on his show: "I'd give about a year's pay to look down the front of that dress."

My favorite Carson quote concerning Dolly has always been, “Ladies and gentlemen, here they are, Dolly Parton.”
