He's a weirdo, but man is it him Jordan, Ruth, and Gretzky on the Mt Rushmore of sports?

Tampa Bay was 7-9 last year. New England was 12-4 last year. This year Tampa Bay is 11-5 and in the NFC Championship game. New England is 7-9. Brady is a winner, no way around it.

He looks like the best NFL player of all time to me.

He's clearly the best NFL of all time & I don't think it's close.

If Mahomes wins the Super Bowl this year, he'll be well on his way at only 25 years old, but so it's so hard to predict how his entire career will go.

He’s about to play in his 14th conference championship game as a starting quarterback. It may be one of the most absurd and uncatchable records in sports.

I didn’t realize until today that Mahomes has only lost 9 games in his career. Like you said, no way to know how his career shapes up, but that’s a hell of a start.

Speaking of, KC is currently -3 on most books. I’d be completely shocked if he doesn’t play next week. You know that will creep up if he’s practicing. If you’re going to play KC, I would grab it now.

If he beats Green Bay next week, probably got to put him on the Mt. Rushmore of sports.

But the Mississippian in me says Jerry Rice and Walter Payton would be better choices. Brady's a great QB, but those two men were football players.

Brady is great. There is no doubt of that. He didn't win this game though. TB's defense won this.

Without those short fields given by the Saints I don’t know that they would have scored a TD.

Yeah, here's his stats...
18/33 199 yds 2 td 0 int

This thread should've praised Devin white...
11 tackles (10 solo)
1 TFL
1 PD
1 int

He was the best player on the field last night.

I'd swap in Tiger for Gretzky but otherwise good list.

I don't watch hockey, so not sure how the game has changed to make points easier or harder to get, but Wayne Gretzky has 48.7% more points than the second most prolific scorer of all time. Don't think Tiger can match that when he didn't get the majors record. I think Gretzky is the one person in a "major" sport (not sure NHL is quite that in the US) whose position on Rushmore is safest. There is an argument between Jordan and Lebron, I think Babe Ruth still belongs as the baseball representative just based on how much more dominant he was compared to his era, and his ability to pitch and hit, but I assume baseball fans would have other arguments. I think there are several players with arguments for football.

I think it also goes to show how much a great quarterback helps make a coach look really good/great.

Take away Gretzky’s 894 goals and he still has more points to be first on the points list because of his 1,963 assists.

It can be argued that Tiger isn’t even the greatest golfer of all time (Nicklaus), but no such argument can be reasonably made about Gretzky. He’s the best ever and the best ever by an incredible margin. He the most dominant athlete any sport has seen.

Gordie Howe was even more impressive. At age 52, he played 80 games in the NHL. Scored 15 goals and had 26 assist.

Gretzky over Tiger.

Tiger is the greatest golfer of all time but what Gretzky did in the NHL is extraordinary.

No doubt. Having an elite QB is pretty much a must to win a super bowl. There are a few exceptions (dilfer with the ravens being one that comes to mind) but defenses are too good in the nfl to win consistently without an elite QB.

Take a look Belichick’s record without Brady as his starting QB. I think it only includes 2 winning seasons.

Did you forget sarcasterisks? It's close whether Tiger is the best golf of all time. It's not close whether Gretzky is the GOAT for hockey. And they're both basically niche sports in the US, so that doesn't help Tiger. If Tiger belongs on Rushmore, it won't be at the expense of Gretzky.

Depending on your definition of elite, I don't think this is quite right. Certainly helps to have an elite qb and and you almost have to have an elite QB, and Trent Dilfer aside, you do basically have to have a good to really good qb.

From the past 30 years, you have Trent Dilfer, Nick Foles (with Carson Wentz starting most of the games that year), Joe Flacco, Brad Johnson, Ben Roethlesiberger, Eli Manning, Mark Rypien, and Jeff Hostetler. Don't really remember Rypien or HOstetler, so they may be better than I'm giving them credit. Most of those QBs were good though. And I guess if Eli Manning and Roethlesberger don't qualify as elite, maybe Troy Aikeman doesn't either? Not sure how good Aikman was versus just being a pretty good QB with a great supporting cast.

In addition to being a great QB, Brady is probably the best “winner” in NFL history. As in, that guy makes everybody around him better. His drive, work ethic, and determination lifts up the level of everyone around him. Look at the receivers he was throwing to in New England. They were average at best for the most part. I mean, Tampa Bay hadn’t made the playoffs since 2008, and Brady comes in and now they’re in the NFC Championship Game. GB will be the favorite, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Tampa goes in there and wins. Brady just has the best intangibles of anyone I’ve ever seen.

Brady is the best and it's not questionable.

If Tampa beats Green Bay this weekend, Tom Brady will have participated in 18% of all Super Bowls ever played.

That is the craziest stat I think I have ever heard.

I've never been the biggest Brady fan, but between him taking the time to tell Alex Smith how inspirational he was and him coming back onto the field after the game to toss the ball around with Brees's kids, I've gotta tip my hat.

It's honestly nothing short of amazing to have a guy with all his success, yet where most other human beings would turn into arrogant A-holes somewhere along the way, he continues to be a class act

Hostetler was Phil Sims backup. Sims got hurt and Hostetler finished the season. To give you an idea of how great he was, that NY Giants team beat the SF 49ers in the NFC Championship game 15-13 by kicking 5 field goals.
