Down 14 to win by 15.
29 point comeback has to be up there, right?

There was a game around 03 or so when Mario Austin and company came back from like 20-2 down, I think against Florida.

Wasn’t there a game against Florida in the mid 90’s where we were down by 20 and came back to win by about 30?

That was against Kentucky in 2002. Down 20-2 to start the game and came back to win in OT. The highlights of that game are on YouTube.

The 2004 Bama game will be an all time favorite. We were down either 16 or 18 at half, and still double digits pretty late in the second half.

That's for sure the biggest this century with regard to impact/importance. Glad I made the trip to see em.

I dont remember a 29 point or bigger comeback though. Thats a huge swing.

Yes, in 95 we got down to Florida by 15 and ended up winning by 24. Craziest basketball game I've ever witnessed in person.

Didn’t Austin hit a 3 from the top of the key to win it or to send it to OT. I remember sports illustrated having a small piece in a magazine comparing Austin to Karl Malone.

I was just talking to my dad about this earlier tonight. I was 13 at the time and we were at the game. I remembered it as us being down 18 at half and winning by 23. Either way, yea that was the biggest turnaround I can ever remember.

Actually, we weren't down as much as you or I remember. I was at that game also and "thought" I remembered we were down by a whole lot and made a valiant comeback led by 00 Darryl Wilson to slay the mighty Gators. So I searched to see what I could find on that game and ran across this article which was actually written the next year reflecting back on that game. Looks like we were only down by 9 at the break but then proceeded to knock the brakes off Florida in the second half. I think what we remember is how bad we played in one half and then how great we played in the second. But that was really one to remember.

I found a brief in the Washington Post about that game. It said Florida was up 28-19 at half and scored the first three baskets of the second half before only scoring two the rest of the game. So I guess they were up 15 before we came back and destroyed them. Final score was 70-47.

Was at that game. That game told everyone how good we could be. Sweet 16 that year and if UCLA hadn't gone down the length of the court to beat Missouri... We would have beat them too...

The Kentucky game down 20-2 at the Hump wa something else...

We couldn't throw it in the ocean from the Titanic... But they never gave up and when Mario hit that jumper from the top of the Key.... Ya knew it was something special...

State had to go play the regional pod in Texas and had the better seed but had to play Texas in Dallas... Didn't get a break... Then the next year got to host the Regional in Birmingham bit had to play Butler... Had the better team but chocked I'm the last minutes and let them drive to go ahead and missed a wild shot at the buzzer.

Typical State loss... Was so pissed off I left the arena, got on I-20 going backwards on a exit ramp and drove all the way back to Madison, going 90 all the way... Blood pressure is rising just remembering that damn game.

Stansbury was in his prime of recruiting... We had some STUDS back then...

I miss those days....

Yep, that is essentially what I remember (although I had mistakenly thought it ended 71-47). But we were down 34-19 in the 2nd half and finished the game on a 51-13 run.

That’s the Timmy Bah’ers en fuego game. All of Dudy Noble was listening to it and erupted when we finally took the lead.

That UF comeback was during my last in in Starkville, an I was lucky enough to have attended. You could say State went on a run, if your are into colossal understatements.

I remember the end of that game well, but what I didn’t remember until recently watching a highlight video is that it’s not like we suddenly flipped a switch when the 2nd half started. All the way up until like 3-4 minutes left, we still really had no business winning that game.

After that one, I was convinced that it was our year to do something special. Then Xavier happened....

I had two major tests the next day (junior year at State) and had to skip this game. I regret missing it to this day.

Yep, drilled a top of the key 3 with less than 10 seconds to go to tie it in regulation. Man, that team was a who’s who of some of my absolute all time favorites. Austin, Z-man, Bowers, Gholar, Patterson...

Also, it’s hilarious to think how much the game’s changed since then. Austin hits the 3, and I can still remember thinking did he really just do that? These days, if your 7-footer can’t hit that shot, you’ve got a problem

Down by 16 at halftime and win by 5 in overtime against #6 Kentucky. Great game! My buddy was ready to leave at halftime. He told me it was impossible for us to come back and win the game with such a deficit against the #6 Wildcats. Glad we stayed to see the whole game.

Yep, against #6 UK so a total of 21 points. Fewer points but against a higher ranked opponent.

Did it say how many Wilson scored? I remember him being lights out that second half.

Down by 16 at the half and we were down by 18 at one point. What was insane is that we were still down by 16 with under 10 minutes in the game.

Unlike most legendary State games, I can claim that I was there.
