Has Julio Jones done anything positive

for the Atlanta Falcons during his career? It seems that the offense works better without him in the lineup. Receivers work harder without him.

I admit fully that he is a freak athlete and an incredible WR but just not seeing any positives from his career.

I mean he has 7 1000+ Yard seasons as a receiver

Not discounting his accomplishments. Just wondering why the combination of talent on that offense can’t get it done. Maybe it’s more Matt Ryan and not Julio. Julio just doesn’t seem to make the receivers around him better.

I’d argue it’s a coaching/organizational issue but it’s probably a combination of things.

I mean Dan Marino at the dolphins comes to mind.

Had Julio done anything positive for the Atlanta Falcons during his career?

Short answer: Yes. NFC Championship game. 9 receptions, 180 yards, 2 TD. Destroyed the Packers. Got them to a super bowl that the coaching staff completely pissed away. A lot of great receivers have never gotten their team to a super bowl.

Just one example

Dan Marino did for me as well when I was typing the previous reply. Also thought about Megatron and Barry Sanders.

The Falcons offense seems like it should be able to score a ton. But maybe that’s just on paper.

I think all of those examples are abt coaching or more importantly the organization as a whole.

The other thing is it’s hard to win it all.

The falcons have had success. Just can’t survive in the playoffs minus the year they choked.

I’m a diehard Falcons fan, definitely hit on the head with this one. He practically played the super bowl with a broken foot and had one of the best catches until Edelman had his. I look back and think how crucial it was to have Kyle Shanahan as OC. It pains me to say but I think the falcons are very close to moving on from Julio. I hate it and it pains me but it’s the truth. I think another reason he gets so much praise is because you don’t hear of any “outside problems”. That’s my 2 cents on it. He’s most definitely a team player and certainly an first ballot Hall of Famer but since 2016 he just hasn’t been the same player.

This is seriously one of the stupidest posts I've ever seen on him. The Falcons have been MUCH better when he is on the field, to such an extend that it is practically cliche at this point. The efficiency of all wide receivers increases when he's on the field. Also, he's a future hall of famer and arguably the greatest Falcon of all time. So, yes, he has done something positive.

I apologize to any Falcons fans I may have offended with a claimed “stupidest” post regarding Julio. I asked a question. I got several reasonable responses. Forgive me for not seeing his “value” to that team. Hence the question.

How many 1,000 yard seasons have you had at your job? That’s what I thought.

About 48 1000+ yard seasons at my job since you asked but not like I’m an NFL player so 1000 yard season at my job is not really the same so not relevant.

Just had 6 straight seasons of 1400 yards plus....guaranteed first ballot hall of famer. That’s all.

I’m also not sure how much you’ve watched the Falcons, but there’s been a running gag for years about how bad Ryan is without Julio on the field. Julio makes Ryan better, which makes Ridley / Gage better, and all that makes the running game go.

So the consensus I get is that he’s been the best athlete and likely best player on the field for over half a dozen years before maybe last year but his QB has been a hot mess other than really one season only for Ryan to choke in the SB.

And you nailed it, I don’t follow Atlanta. I guess what triggered the question was Ridley being their top WR the last 4 weeks and seeing how Atlanta just always seem to be lacking on offense while on paper looking like a bunch of studs. Maybe they should have hired Shanahan and fired Quinn after the SB season.

I know that would have been unheard of but a great OC is like lightning in a bottle and tough to duplicate.

Thanks for the response.

Do you... do you think its Julios job to coach the other receivers? How the 17 is a receiver supposed to make other receivers better?

He struggles to stay healthy and plays on a bad team. Needs a good OC. ATL is probably about to rebuild without he an Matt Ryan.
