Just watched it with the family. Didn’t even know Pixar had a new full-length feature. Very enjoyable movie, although some concepts were a little deep for the young ones. Oh, and Merry Christmas you filthy degenerates.

What’s the message? My 4 year old loves the Disney musicals but as I watch them they all seem to have a message of unite and take on authority. The tunes are catchy and effective apparently

It’s a Pixar feature so no real musical singalongs. Themes are pretty straightforward. Life, death, friendship, fear, and purpose, if I had to try and summarize. No underlying political themes that I could make out. Very enjoyable family film.

How emotional is it. I like the Pixar movies but they have too much heavy stuff for young kids. The opening scene of Up and pretty much all of the movie with the pants running around were too heavy for my kids.

Its emotional in a deep thinking and complex way. It addresses fears, insecurities, and purpose in life.

Its both funny and complex as 17. A lot of the reason to watch the movie would be lost on most kids under 9 or so.

Really good movie.

We started it last night. But like others have said, you can tell it’s deep and complex after the first 10 minutes.

Up can go to hell and die. I hated that beginning because I was a newlywed at the time.

I hate Up. It's an emotional first five minutes and then the rest of the movie is pretty forgettable except for that dog.

Really good movie.

I started it with the kids (preschool age) and could tell pretty quickly it wasnt for them but it was interesting enough I went back and finished it when they went to sleep. Its an excellent movie.

Also shouts out to the production team of it, best lighting in a Pixar movie by a huge margin.

"Best Lighting in a Pixar movie", if that a new award category? What's the worst? Just giving you a hard time for being so specific. Consider the source of question though, a guy that hasn't walked into a movie theater for 2 decades nor sat down and watched a complete movie on tv in about the same period.

Dont know if Pixar but I watched Disney's A Christmas Carol and have no idea what age I would show that to a kid. It's a pretty dark story but I just dont know if those themes affect kids the way they do adults. The Ghost of Christmas Present laughing his *** off as he turns to dust at midnight is pretty artsy.

Muppet Christmas Carol is the best version IMO

I was lucky enough that my kids didn't undesrtand that scene. But by the time Onward came, one of my kids burst into tears during the movie. Later I got to answer questions about what would happen when I die. Also had a kid cry during the movie about the emotions with the girl from parks and recs as the lead character Joy. Inside OUt? That was even worse because there wasn't a single thing to discuss; just the whole damn thing was depressing.

They need some more toy story type movies that has drama and excitement without a parent dying or anything else too heavy.

Inside Out is the most depressing animated movie I’ve ever seen. The whole thing was sad.
