Oof, that’s super tough. Wonder if we’d take him back, or would we be suspicious it’s secret agent lane **** and he will just flip again.

I doubt it. Leach wants kids who are all in. This is the exact opposite of all in.

Unless Leach was pulling some double sneaky super secret squirrel stuff on Lane and Lane sniffed it out.

Hell no we shouldn’t take him back. He was planning to leave us on NSD and do a patented OM hat flip.

OM did a pretty ****** thing right here. We better be bringing this to the attention of every kid we go up against them for as long as Kiffin is there.

Or.... his flip wasn’t really a flip, but a flop because our staff found some issues and actually pulled our offer first, and the Sharks took the bait and tried to use it as a flip.😊

I don’t know how good this kid may or may not be but I don’t think we are in a position to turn away someone we thought enough of to have committed for a long time. Especially along the OL.

Pounders leaving combined with Barber possibly flipping to state means no room for the former.

No, I’m not. 2 weeks ago he was a long time commit on the OL and we are a 2 win team that can’t block a 3 man rush and the coach does not trust the OL to block well enough on run plays. I don’t think we are exactly a Mecca of OL talent right now. If there is a possibility the kid can help us, I’d hope the coaches can swallow their pride and sign him. Now if the coaches don’t feel like he can help then fine don’t sign him. But I just don’t feel like we should be so prideful not to bring in someone.

Listen, these kids have to learn. You get on the Wagon and stay on. If you jump off the wagon, Leach is gonna fill that seat. And its been filled. We got that kid from Texas and the one from Jacksonville. Hopefully...lol

Here’s my read on the situation, and while it’s likely to come across as revisionist history, it’s really not -

Pounders started trying to play games with his recruitment and Leach and company cut him loose. They weren’t playing those games with him. When he “flipped” to Ole Miss it was fairly telling that he’s the only recruit who Kiffin didn’t even acknowledge his “commitment” on Twitter.

I don’t think Ole Miss ever truly committed to him, because numbers are tight and we’ve got several young OL. And y’all certainly weren’t interested in his games, because you’ve got good, if not better, backup plans.

Pounders would have been an afterthought for us in most years (both schools, I mean). But it was a down year for OL in MS, so that inflated his “worth” to both fan bases. Ty Cooper is similar, but he’s still a legitimate P5 DL prospect.

State will sign the best OL in MS tomorrow, in Gabe Cavanos.

He did. Tough break for Pounders, but he played the wrong game.

When you lay down with dirty dogs, you get fleas. That's what happened to pounders with ole miss. This should really make the rebs popular with coaches in this state moving forward, too. Good job, Lane!

I think we have seen enough "opt outs" and non committed players for a lifetime this season. Let's go find guys who want to be here and will work hard to become strong SEC players.

We may not be a Mecca of O line talent, but Leach also just spent the entire season weeding out players a whole lot more talented than Pounders because he didn’t feel they were bought in to the program. Maybe part of this is about pride, but a bigger part is about Leach not wanting kids on campus that aren’t committed to his plan, and Pounders just proved that he was ready to run the second someone wined and dined him. Not to mention that if Leach hadn’t sniffed this out, he was fully planning on leaving us high and dry on signing day so that there’d be more of a spectacle around it.

I hope everything works out for the kid, I really do. But I have zero desire for him to be a part of this football team. Another case of mom/dad doing a piss poor job of managing their child’s recruitment and future

I don't hate on the guy. He probably had some family member in his ear about how much $$$ guys like him are getting from schools and he tried to get his. If he's paying attention, he may have just learned a very valuable lesson about supply, demand, and market value. Whatever happened with him re:MSU is unfortunate. He made a bad decision.
