OT - anyone streaming anything good right now?

Just finished season 2 of the Last Kingdom, and I typically watch something else before jumping into another season of the same show, but I just couldn’t find anything else last night.

Is Queen’s Gambit worth a shot?

Queen's Gambit was one of those shows that my wife and I said "Lets just watch one episode and see if its any good"...................................about 8 hours later we were finished with the whole season.

I just watched the Christmas Movies That Made Us episode about Elf. It really was fascinating going into how they filmed the movie. And if you didn’t know Elf was John Favreau’s first big movie.

If you like any sort of restoration show, I would recommend The Repair Shop. They repair all kinds of family heirlooms for free and return them to their owners.

I enjoyed Queens Gambit & think most folks will. Very enjoyable viewing, plot is pretty straight-forward. Perfectly fine tv, but it's not gonna like change your life or anything.

Interestingly, it's by the same author (Walter Tevis) as The Hustler and The Color of Money.

Currently watching Season 4 of The Crown. It's an excellent show and Olivia Colman is excellent as the Queen. Also very enlightening about how terrible of a person Margaret Thatcher was.

Queen's Gambit is great. What was refreshing is that they did not take the usual pot shots that a lot of shows might have taken on sexism and religion.

We're watching The Crown right now. I think they are accurately making Charles out to be the whiny turd that he was (dude does seem a little more mellow now that he's matured in old age).

Ran through Big Mouth's newest season that just came out last week. Incredible comedy. Probably pushes the limits too far for a good number of posters here though since it deals with puberty and the realities of sexuality.
Just finished the last season of Schitt's Creek too. Fantastic characters. Itd be a shame to pass on this show because of the sexual identity of a character, but I could see that happening for some here.

Rolled thru Man in the High Castle while I had to sit alone for a week in my basement with Covid. Good, but slow.


Oh- Episodes. Its a Showtime show on Netflix now. Matt LeBlanc plays a version of himself. The first handful of episodes are good but not laughing hard. The rest of the series(5 seasons?) is just fantastic. LeBlanc is a terrible version of himself and its fun to see.

My wife got into this over the weekend. Ive seen a couple episodes and they are really interesting.
Its like the History Channel reality shows, except without the drama. Just good history and process.

I enjoyed Psych. Kind of a goofy show but I enjoy lighthearted shows like that. We had just finished dexter which is about as dark as you can get, so it was a good change of pace.

Its equal to a tv or movie rating system- I dont want those who can't handle gender neutral pronouns to have to be confronted with that topic, so I pointed out that BigMouth may not be the best choice, even though I find it incredible.

Big Mouth is perhaps the least appropriate show on any platform right now. It very much offends people, based on responses in the social media world. Seems appropriate to point out who it may not be for.

Just finished Chernobyl on HBO again. It's outstanding.

The sound is phenomenal too. The constant white noise drone tones representing the constant radiation that surrounds....

That was an intense tv watching experience.

Tales from the tour bus season 1 and 2 by mike judge. Season one is on outlaw country. It’s great. Season two is on funk era music. It’s good too but not quite as much as the first one. It’s on prime.
