A healthy scratch today.

Anyone else surprised by his pro career? Personally, he’s one of the best RBs in college I’ve ever seen. I thought he would be a beast in the NFL, but he’s been pretty underwhelming.

Miles ran him into the ground in college. Lotta mileage on those tires before he played a snap in the pros.

Yes - he ran it a lot in college but he never really took off at all in pros. Seems like the heavy load in past would do more to shorten his career vs keeping it from being much for even a short time. Had 2 - 1000 yard seasons, but average was typically low.

Heck - Derrick Henry got as many carries in college (going to fact check myself) and he’s a beast. I do think when Henry starts his decline, it will be fast

He's a prima donna and always has been all the way back to LSU. He was a beast in college because he was just more talented than 99% of the other players on the field. That goes away pretty quick in the NFL, and if you aren't willing to work hard at it, a player's time in the NFL can be very very short.

He’s having a hard time getting / keeping his legs healthy. That said, it’s just tough to play that style of RB in today’s NFL. He’s not a home run hitter and he’s not healthy enough to grind people down.

Jones isn’t great in Tampa either, but that backfield has been a head scratcher for a couple years now.

Henry had 602 carries in 39 games, and 619 total touches

Fournette had 616 in 32 games, and 657 total touches

So Fournette throughout his career average about 5 more carries a game than did Henry and Fournette was already breaking down, he got 300 carries as a SOPH and missed half his junior season.

But point taken, they both ran the ball a lot

Henry is also a physical freak. After our game in 2015 I said he was the best RB I had seen in person and I still believe it to be true. We had a good defense that year and it was like they were trying to tackle a horse.

Exactly. Most qbs can do what he can now....goal line specialist.

The MLB and SS are animals now. As the back gets more dimensions so with the SS.
A sub 4.5 forty , 215 pound rock hitting your knees 20 times a game...no thanks

Fournette ran himself into the ground. He relies on his legs too much to take contact to wear out the opponent. That's wear he takes the brunt of hits with. His legs. Henry hits them with his shoulders and is faster than his opponent. Just two different styles of backs. We see which one lasts longer.

You act like Zeke Elliot and others weren’t also run into the ground in college.

I’m not sold that Fournette is physically done. Last year was the best season of his pro career, and he has still looked solid when given the opportunity this year in Tampa, in a year where he came in way behind due to joining the team like a week before the season started. His biggest problem has been between the ears.

I remember seeing him during warmups his freshman year without pads on. I was thinking - who is that guy, he's a beast. Look him up and it's their freshman RB who hadn't hardly played.

He looked like an NFL linebacker at 18 or 19 years old.

He had 1600 yards from scrimmage just last season.
